With the amount of issues the 3rd gen has, I'm thinking Toyota of America will have these issues under control by mid-cycle refresh or 5 years from it's debut.

The sad thing is most of these troublesome issues are happening under 20k miles. The true test will be soon after the warranty expires and/or the trucks have more than 50k miles.

Yeah they sit low so I'll have to dump a little cash into better suspension and tires to improve angles. No big deal. If I liked the Tacoma more I probably would have put more than just a $1500 lift on the truck.

Agreed.. I keep thinking that it's not so much about the bizarre engine/trans combination.. I think it's more of a big picture situation where toyota tried to fully load up what is supposed to be a simple platform and they bit off more than they could chew.. Let the fulsize guys have all the bells and whistles.. Tacoma are supposed to be a little more stripped down to the basics in my opinion..

Meanwhile, in reality outside of TW, Toyota continues a decade of smashing the competition. It's not even close.

I just spent a week in LA and had a 2017 F150 Ecoboost quad cab rental with 200 miles on it. I liked it, quite a bit actually, even driving around LA madness. I don't like the whole turning off when stopped thing, but I definitely enjoyed the power. That powertrain is legit, especially on the highway. However, I wouldn't trade my Taco for it, even if it was $10k cheaper.

So far I've been happy with the new Tacoma but I expected a little better for the cost of the truck these trucks are very expensive for what you get. I had one recall already on the truck and a few issues but you know you have to play the games with the dealer "oh this is normal for the Truck". Vibrations when driving for instance they say is normal which I don't believe them. I think they need more power. If the Tacoma is problem free for 8 years and 150,000 miles like my Chevy was, then I will be happy, but Who knows I may not even keep it that long!

I had the tires looked at by the dealer. They balance them and said they are fine. I noticed the vibration when I'm getting on the freeway speeding up maybe at 2000 rpm.

Driveline vibe. No known fix. Well known issue. Seatbelt Mike owes us all steak dinners.

Not a balance issue.. i was thinking a tire tread issue maybe.. also I brought my brand new 2011 into the alignment shop and they showed me clearly how bad the factory alignment was. Even the rear axle thrust angle was off. I brought the 2015 in brand new as well to the same shop and it was not even close either.. long story short, every new rig gets a comprehensive alignment and new Bridgestone tires in my book!

That's hard to believe, the amount of people coming at me to swoon over my truck is crazy. Not one of them mentioned Toyota's issues. Love you and all, but I think you're perpetuating your hype.

Not sure why it is so surprising we see dozens of complaint threads started here every day.

I've had the same problem since delivery. Dealer says normal per Toyota Corporate. No authorized warranty work. Aftermarket tires and waalah they blame the tires.

Since I got my lift on, it's only increased. At least 20 people have taken pictures at random places like gas stations.

    Hard pass on the salt.
