Car wash just got mine over the weekend. Was a pain to work the broken piece out but I eventually got it! I went to Autozone and picked up a 13" that is identical to stock for $9.99. Love the way it looks. I noticed a little signal loss when parking in a underground garage. Never had a problem before but I am ok with it. I am just parking!

Just now finished ordering a 14" Billet antenna ($20 bucks) from "AntennaX." I will post a pic and review when I get it. A bit pricey, but, besides my toolbox, it's the only (for now) mod's I plan. Famous last words :)

Yeah, not something I look at either, though I do understand that both of our posts have absolutely nothing to contribute to this thread... :D

We don't need to compensate with our mast.
LOL. I don't know what it is with me, but I wish we had no antennas. Maybe one day I will eliminate mine. I like clean lines. That tall ass antenna on the truck looks out of place to me, like a 6th finger. So a shorty does not ruin the lines for me as much. Weird, I know, but thats why I have a shorty.

Antennas are designed to work at certain megahertz. The length of the antenna determines what frequencies it hears best. You CAN NOT just go chopping antennas and expect them to work fine afterwards. They may still work but they will lose their broad band capabilities of receiving a wide array of frequencies aka channels. The length makes the antenna resonant and proper resonance is what makes an antenna rx well. FYI.
