I spent about 1 month and 3 visits to the dealer to figure out where the wind whistling noise was coming from (I had already done the windshield TSB as well as the taping of every gap facing forward). Turns out it was/is my aftermarket short antenna it is about 40-50% shorter than the factory and the wind hits it just right and creates an annoying whistling noise.

Just telling you in case you do go short and begin to have a whistle noise that isn't the windshield.

Does the flexible one bend much on the freeway? That is why I have left mine alone or will shorten the oem. I am not 4x4 so not much limb action hittin it.

Am i the only one who uses the stock antenna to judge the height of parking garages? If it doesn't hit, I'm good. It's a few inches taller than the cab.

^^^^ My stock antena is 11" above the roof. 2005 might be different length.

Dont mind the stock, will actually put it back on when I dont have to go in the garage anymore. Get better reception out in the valley.

    That's good to hear.

Bought my wife one of the generic "rubber duckies" for her Rav years ago and it took on a permanent bend within a month or two.

I just ordered two of yours for the Rav and the Taco.

Parking garages around here have the clearence height. So if you know the height of your truck, don't need to ue the antenna.

Wait, WHAT? Your antenna sticks up 11" above top of cab? Thats Stock?

Had originally choose stock on the poll, but ended up getting the Cravenspeed Stubby Antenna today. I love how it looked and how low profile it was, but I regret ever buying that POS. I lost 5 of my preset station and my 6th had a slight fuzzy sound to it. I am very disappointed, but at least the return process is free. I guess I'll be sticking to my stock antenna for good.

I wasnt kidding when I said it would take a eye out when Im clearing the parking garage by 2-3''.
