I have always thought it would be cool to do something in foresty. I know nothing about forestry, but that is what school is for. I knew nothing about aircraft, and i am now a helicopter mechanic.

    I wouldn't change a thing.

I caretake a beautiful property on the Big Sur coast and design websites, while I work on my MBA online from Wisconsin. Please don't make me do anything else!

Exactly what I'm doing now. Maybe came in the Navy two years earlier, but I think I'm doing alright. Soon I'm going to be starting up college again and working on a business degree. I'll let you know in 10 years if I screwed up, but so far I think it's turning out to my advantage.

    Nathan,
As a person that hires operational managers and regional managers on a regular basis, if you are thinking about going back to school, you need to make sure that the industry your trying to get into, would it even be necessary to get a degree vs. real life experience. From my hiring experience, most that have real life experience vs. the college are pursued further in the hiring process and possibly even hired more. However, it really depends on the industry.

My thoughts are that if you want to change industries, maybe try to find someone to have an informational interview with thats been in that industry in a long time i.e. manager etc. with to see what they would recommend you do. Just my $.02

As for me? I would have gotten into computers more. Like the networking aspect of it, with all of the crazy Cisco certifications etc.

Ive always wanted to work more with my hands, Im just not sure as to what.

I agree. I am an I.T. manager and I look at experience before certs. No sim or test exists that can put the pressure on like an email server completely down at 11:00 on a Wednesday night and having to redo it. It gives me comfort to know that the person is commited to their job, knows where to look for answers to any problems they might have, and in general I dont have to worry about that person (BIG plus).

Mechanical engineer or video game designer. I'm actually doing some serious thinking about going to college for the ME deal. I just turned 34. I figure I could have it done by the time I'm 40 and still work in the meantime.

I honestly cannot stand the thought of being out on the floor doing manual / CNC machining for another 35 years. No effin way.

Very cool, that would be a neat job. my dad has said he would love to do that.

very cool also. helicopter pilots can make a lot of money, esp. if you own your own rig. I'd pay you to take me on a flying pig hunt :D :infantry:

I think it would be cool to own a gun shop/indoor range and be a gunsmith.

I've though about trying to open an indoor range here. there isnt one here yet!
