Does anyone know what changed between the older Tacomas throwout bearing design and newer models? Why are no discussions on newer models throwout bearing failures?

I have an 07 Tacoma and did the URD throwout bearing which failed in a year. Im doubting that it is a true fix... I'm wondering if its possible to drop in a new tranny from a later model Tacoma?

    Thanks!

i'm on my 2nd throwout bearing and was trying to decide on the urd throwout bearing but i don't want this to happen to me again. Any update on your situation? I'm wondering if replacing the clutch and adding the urd kit would fix it..This is really frustrating.Makes me want to sell the truck.

There is a fix and, if you looked, it's just a few posts down in this forum

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/6-speed-clutch-problems-and-advice.387306/

If you look at this post you'll see that Toyota has changed the slave cylinder spring in their repair kit

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads...-slave-cylinder-rebuild.387315/#post-10637097

This is a "non safety" issue so Toyota probably doesn't want to say anything because they'll just talk themselves into a recall but I think they're probably quietly fixing the problem with the kits and on new models. The problem is very easily fixed but you need to do it before your clutch, TOB and spindle are too seriously damaged.
