dealerships offer GAP insurance for about $750applied to your loan. over 36 / 60 / 70 monthsOuch!!!!not a good investment..Although it is good to have. your current car insurance can offer the same GAP insurance for about 5 dollars extra on current premium.Example: 5 * 12 = $ 60 $60 * 5 years = $ 300one other thing, you have 30 days to cancel the GAP on current loan/ finance contract. submit your tips, for new buyers

I just bought my new Tacoma last Friday. The loan consultant spent about a half hour explaining the extra services I could have rolled into my loan, including GAP and about 10 others.

I didn't take any of them, but thanks for the tip, I didn't know my current insurance could cover it.

By GAP do you mean the time it takes for you to trade in your old truck for a new one and drive home and call your ins. co. to add the new one?
AAA gives you a couple weeks of overlap to take care of this.
Never had anyone try to sell me anything here in California except stupid extended warranties or overpriced alarms.

no its more like you buy a new Taco and wreck it the next week.....well with the 4000 miles you put on it its worth 5000 less than what you gave for it so your out $5k....the gap coverage would cover the difference between what the insurance gives you vs what the replacement cost would be for a new one. The figures are not correct but I think you get the idea

Yes, I purchased a 2012 V-6 TRD, and the loan officer offered me a variety of extended warranty plans, etc. I didn't buy any either.
