Bought a 3d printer this morning. Excited to give it a shot.
Anyone print an organizer for the cup holders on the driver's door? I have some stuff jammed in there and it rattles around. Shouldn't be too hard to make

A crealty ender 3 v3. It seemed like a decent deal and I've been wanting a printer for years.
Seems like cura is the recommended slicer software? I should be able to download thingaverae stuff and put it in there to go into the printer?

Cura is mostly my go-to because it's beginner friendly and it has some neat tools in the more advanced menus.

The one feature that I have to jump over to another slicer to do is the ability to split and merge files. Sometimes I like to do some simple cut/paste editing without having to open it up in a CAD editor. :anonymous:

did my first print last night and ordered a print remover thing today to get that ring thing off. i ordered this onehttps://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0BP9TRZW2/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1
a coworker said a metal remover thing isn't recommended, but i thought that was for glass beds. mine is like a plastic covered metal.

if a metal scraper isn't recommended, what kind is?

reading into it more, im not sure if i need a scraper thing. i should be able to just bend the part that comes off the bed. but getting that ring and initial line off seems tricky without a scraper

I use a metal putty scraper thing, haven't had any issues with gouging my bed. Just be careful to go at it at a shallow angle and not dig down.

    Few tips that I learned-

One, dont try to pry when it's still hot. Brew a coffee or drink a brew, and let the bed come back to room temperature.

Two, if it's cold and a gentle pry at the corners still isn't releasing it, then take full advantage that the metal sheet is held by a magnet. Remove the whole thing and give it a slight bend. Just know that you need to re-level and check Z offset whenever you do. But at least that's easier than gouging your stubborn model.

i printed a small filament guide and let it sit about 30 minutes while i was doing something else today. it came off much easier than my print yesterday with my trying to grab it immediately after it finished. I guess i don't really need the scraper thing, i was just too impatient. im sure the scraper kit would come in handy at some point though.

    What haven’t I changed?
I’m impatient so I ended up ordering extra PEI magnetic sheets. After one print is done, I can remove it and slap another one onto the bed and start the next print. The first sheet cools down faster not being on the warm bed too. Plus if one gets damaged then I have the other to keep me going until another new one arrives.

    Yeah.
Figured there was a thread here. My wife got me a Voxelab Aquila X2 for xmas (Ender 3 clone) and I headed down the rabbit hole. I had no idea you could get a printer this cheap (she was worried that she overpaid at ~$150).

Anyway, started with printing stuff to upgrade the printer like I guess we all do, some useful items for the kitchen, then decided to take on a "project." Did a Zinc 2.0 Nerf gun with some "improved" parts. Fun project, and it works well!

The printed parts and the overpriced hardware kit:

Oh man - how did i miss this thread

After i ended up buying someone else's design on Etsy I started looking for a good deal on my own printer.
I picked up my first printer last fall and I'm loving it. just emptied my fourth spool and having a lot of fun.

some of the more "practical" things I've printed:

Laser pointer mount for my bug-a-salt
    Toothpaste transfer thingy
    belt thingy

    Taco stuff;
    Center Console thingy
    Ball mount
    Flashlight Holder
    Radio Mount
    Redbull Holder
Shovel holder (to compare to the one i made by myself)
    Sunglass holder

    fun/silly stuff;

Im waiting on a replacement extruder and I have a couple of shelf brackets waiting for that. But other than that, my machine has been mostly idle this month.

    Yeah.
Shared in the Helldivers thread when Kwikvette asked about 3D printing, figured I should share here. After about a month I finally finished up all the parts for the 3DLabPrint Piper Cub (free model). Most parts were printed at least 3 times. I was using Cura, which was terrible for these particular models since they are single-walled and not solid. I didn't realize that a lot of internal structures were not being printed properly, and sometimes not at all. So, I eventually tried PrusaSlicer and followed the printing guide provided and they printed beautifully (mostly). The Overture Air PLA (pre-foamed) likes to eventually clog the nozzle, so it was important to clear the nozzle out after every couple of prints. And since it is lots of tall, single-walled parts and I don't have auto-leveling, cleaning the bed with IPA and making sure it is level at the same time was important.

    AP1GczO-bG647RywBTS1ocabgh4WiFATs2PqfQye_6afece1aaa330017f30783ce9c69b8b93a41ba69.jpg

Wingspan is 42", and fully assembled with ailerons the wing weighs 156g. That's pretty dang light! With LW PLA, total printed weight should be around 224g, so I will be over that, but as long as I am not more than 200g over it should still fly.

Well, anything can fly at least once.

New print head arrived today. I decided to just replace everything from the carriage forward and strip the old assembly down for spare parts.

    :anonymous:

Leveled and offset-ed, and new PIDs fine tuned. Now we have the .6 nozzle on and are banging out a couple of quick parts.
