Build thread in sig... 4-link long travel
I've had different rear facing camera locations throughout my trucks life, but it turns out they've always been mounted below something. With the new rear-end to the truck, my camera is not underneath anything and gets covered in dew every night. Rain-x doesn't change anything and even if you wipe the camera down, it re-fogs the outside of the lense for the first 5-10 minutes of driving. So I designed a shroud that should solve the issue.
For reference, I'm in coastal South Carolina. It did not rain last night, it is just humid and dewy here. Probably 9 mornings out of 10 are like this, year round.

Just need to sand that front edge a bit before prime and paint, and it'll be ready to mount.

Thanks, its been a trip getting deeper and deeper custom work and refining what I've made.

Here are some of the originals I created. Diffidently a lot better now!

The first few steps in my life size print of my B1 Battle Droid.
All parts are oriented for strength and not looks or later smoothness, so a lot of the parts are going to require a lot more post processing work than then may have otherwise.
With the droid being 6'+ tall and and of an unknown (likely quite high) weight, I'm going to need all the strength I can get

Main head, back of the head, back of the head details, neck parts, long range Binocs and a smaller box with hands, thumbs, fingers and wrist parts:

Last night was the start of the next phase (legs). Starting out with some B1 Battle Droid high tops:

What printer are you running? The textures are great and I'd love that finish with my prints if possible

This was well over a year ago at this point on a older 3d printer with a fuzzy skin texture I set up. It was decent but course and not as refined as it is now.

    Alright need some help.

I am printing PET-CF with a .60 nozzle. It keeps printing like this causing the nozzle to catch and bounce around. It's catching while printing, not while traveling.

    - I tried slowing down, that didnt help.
    - Ran a flow test, that came out good according to numbers.
    - Increased z-hop to .2 over layer height, but since its also catching during printing that didn't do anything.

To me it looks like its still extruding to much material?

Try upping the fan to 80-100% and temp at around 270, it looks kinda like the material is still too hot when the next layer comes out. Might explain why it looks so wavy.

fan was already on 100%, except for 1st layer. Any fan on 1st layer and it wont stick to plate

I think it's just too hot. Recommended temps for this filament is 230-250. At 230 its oozing out pretty fast. Really fast actually. It's not until I get to around 190 that it stops oozing. When I tried lowering temps to around 200 it stopped sticking to the plate.

You sure that's PET-CF? Most the PET-CF I've used or know about print from 270-300 and bed temp at 100c.

Sorry, it's actually PETG-CF, so you are right on temps.

But I just figured it out, or at least hte biggest culprit, its the damn height sensor probe thingy. It keeps dragging through the print and screwing it up before it cools. These new nozzles are about 2mm shallower that the ones I had before, causing the whole extruder to sit lower and the sensor probe is too low. I do need to adjust temps a little, but won't do any good if that probe keeps getting drug through the print.

Ah that makes sense, that's one the things about PETG is that it likes to ooze and of the materials I have it's probably my second least favorite because of that and cooling seems to never be good enough for overhands

Purchased Toyota Certified, with Vijay bumpers, additional lights, and Falken Wildpeaks on Fuel rims. Prev owner apparently painted the grill.
I'm working on getting my ham radio installed under my drivers seat. To do so, I need to get power and the coax antenna line down there. A little bit of research indicates that the best route is through a hole in the floor behind the seat. I pulled out the grommet that was in there and decided to print a replacement in TPU for my best chance at keeping out the water.

I've never printed in TPU, but I grabbed some settings off the web and gave it a shot. I'm pretty happy with the results:
    20241224_165900.jpg
I may have to use some lube to get this power wire a few more feet through, but I'd rather have it tight.

The coax will need some silicon sealant, I need to get the connector through the hole.

The droid assembly plant is now in full production.....
Head parts, back of the head pieces, long range Binocs, now added feet, shins, ankles, knees, lower thighs, backpack, and the main chest piece.
    IMG_20241226_145001924.jpg

Man, the main chest part is a BEAST. Largest single part in the whole build.
    IMG_20241226_145018993_HDR.jpg

Backpack came out nice as well, and will hang neatly on his back. It will also hide the main back access panel that will house the electronics, including a PIR with some B1 sounds.

I knew there was a 3d printer thread on here…
Got a K1C for myself Black Friday, the unknown ender that I bought years ago at the pawn shop for $80 was more of a headache than anything (I did print a few useful things though) and with my brother in law getting an X1C also I figured it was time to do something.

So far I’ve printed battle benchys, storage trays, a trash can, a bunch of lithophanes (Christmas gifts), and the list of “to print” keeps growing as my wife explores thingiverse.
