It has vibration comp, printing at 50mms currently. Machine was moved to another room last month and it was completely recalibrated, ran the vibe comp, etc...test cubes and other prints are fine.

Yes, .4 nozzle. I tried exactly that, .12, .10, .15, had the same results.

Yeah, not sure how well it works compared to a corexy machines, I'd lead more on hardware changes to make it better rather then print profiles. Things like belt tension/flow tests/ect.

Progress on my full size 1:1 scale B1 Battle Droid continues......

Keeping the 90/10 work rule about paint in mind is hard.......post processing is a killer!

The chest piece is the single largest part in the droid, and is huge, with a ton of crevices and hard to reach areas.
The head turned out great with minimal filling and sanding. Using some acetone and ABS for smoothing, and then some spot putty for final filling.
Next up it will some rounds of spray filler primer.......

Quick little design/print project this evening:
    20250322_214251.jpg 20250322_214356.jpg
    It goes here:

Hidden USB power for the things I have on my DMM. The Taco Garage wants $35 for a stamped metal bracket w/USB port. The USB cost me something like $6. Still have to source power for it, but that's minor. I'll probably pull it from the unused Qi charger.

Thats what I did. I had the USB powered on when I pressed the Qi button. I wish I could remember what wires I used from the Qi, it wasn't as straight forward as I was expecting.

Texting with one of the members here last night, he put a bug in my head about embossing/debossing some text on that bracket. So, down the rabbit hole I went...2 hours of looking at fonts later, I found one I liked.

This morning, I took some (too much!) time and jumped into learning how to emboss in Fusion. Learn I did! One thing I learned is that Fusion doesn't necessarily like open source fonts. There's a way around it though, I opened my Illustrator clone app and set the type there and converted the text to vectors. Then, I could import the text into Fusion as a .svg file.

When I tried to re-print the bracket, it didn't come out well, the type is pretty small (it's a small bracket). I think I'll re-try it tomorrow at a slower speed, maybe that will help. If nothing else, I have knowledge for the future. This is how it turned out:

a B1 is on my list. Did you go with Droid Divison files? I have their pit droid, finished one and have another to do.
Currently I’m working on my R2 project. Again

For sure! DD files really are superior.....I've got the voice animatronics figured out, which for me was WAY tougher than any of the printing or post processing. Although the latter is taking for EVER it feels like.

Do you end up bringing this into a slicer before going to print? In prusa slicer, you can add font pretty easily. The amount of font options is limited but its super simple to add text to designs

I'm using Cura to slice. Even when I adjust to a .2 nozzle and .12 layer height, I can't get it to slice well. It's just too small. BTW, that font is bold, so imagine how thin it would be...

Overall, that text block is maybe 19 x 7mm

Spacer grids for the portable fridge to get some airflow along the sides. I learned thru trial and error that a pack of brats against the side where the t-stat is will cause it to not cool efficiently. :D

If you install the TT or OT file type for that font, you can easily just type in what you want and explode the text.

    Super fast.

I have the font installed. Fusion won't execute the emboss. When checking with Fusion, they point out that their software won't recognize some fonts and to import the text as a vector file.

I confirmed this by trying a more common font, and bang, it went right through. Yes, it's super fast, when Fusion recognizes the font.

I have a ton of fonts installed, never seen that one before.

But I believe you. What is it called anyway?

I normally type it on a new sketch for the plane I want, then extrude it.

The font is called Techno Race, it's freeware...yes, it's obscure. (I can't ever do something the easy way :D) It just creates an extra step, only takes me a few minutes to set in my Illustrator clone and export as vector art. And as you know, vector art is easily scaled.
