Well it's not a 49 piece CVT, but I did pri t a replacement part for my truck. Today is the print that seems like it is going to fit.

I have a factory tri-fold the drivers side back hinge seal broke a few months ago and I've been putting off the CAD to fix it. I finally said screw it and started.

I still need to put in the M5 heat set thread inserts, but I'm happy with the fit!

This is Polymaker black ASA, now that I know it fits I may try to do it in CF PETG.

Ol RockLob is up to stupid shit. :cookiemonster:

I picked up a QuickJack so I can squeeze my fat ass under the Miata a little easier. It must be modded, because of course it does

    .

    PXL_20250809_183412538~2.jpg

The problem, all of the fine positioning tends to scratch up the floor pretty good. Plus, the jack is heavy. Especially if you're moving it while leaning and crouched. That sound was my L3 disc ricocheting against the ceiling.

I found a model for caster wheels that I really liked, but it was for a different frame size. The model was for the 7000 frame, and I have a girly-man 5000 pound lift. Whelp, it's time to practice some tinkercad editing.

    PXL_20250822_225011732.jpg

I went through many iterations and so far have thrown out at least two spools of filament. By the time I'm done, it will have taken me 2.5kgs to print the final, and I'll probably have thrown away 3kgs. I just bought Anycubic a nice dinner.

    PXL_20250819_225429675~2.jpg

Here's version 1, rear, next to version 3, front. There are a few obvious differences, but there was also a lot of fine tweaking to the internal structure and hardware locations, to make the geometry work.
    PXL_20250822_223713537~2.jpg

And then the rest run. This is the version 2 setup, but here's what I'm after. Make that bastard roll across an unswept floor like a high dollar creeper.

    PXL_20250821_232524578.jpg

    There are two absolute requirements:

    A) make the jack frames easily rollable/positionable while keeping the added height under 1/2" (the lower the better)
    PXL_20250821_233416936.NIGHT~2.jpg

    B) I absolutely positively have to see daylight between the ground and the printed part before the jack makes contact with the car. This ensures that the jack frame is solidly planted on concrete as originally designed.

    PXL_20250821_232859011.NIGHT~2.jpg

Yeah, it's obvious my garage is way overdue for a good broom pushing. I'm procrastinating by doing this stupid crap. :anonymous:

I was just looking at my pile of scrap and wondering how much I spent on filament vs how much I've actually used.

    I don't want to know...

I got lazy of thinkering and trying so it's not perfect fit but with some double-sided tape it'll stay in place. Or maybe scale down 1-2% and try

After a few months of leisurely 3D printing, priming, painting and weathering my 1:1 life size B1 battle droid scout is now complete!

We put Scout in our fireplace room so he can check for Clone troopers.....
(Hint, they're closer than he thinks)

The infrared PIR motion sensor in his chest also activates a micro SD card in his chest, hooked to a speaker in his back that randomly spouts 1 of 105 B1-isms. It's a good laugh when he says something "appropriate".

Wondering if I can employ one of y'all to both design, and print out several "water capsules" that will sit inside of this metal vase.

    20250922_123403.jpg

Short version - small vase for holding a few flowers, need a water bowl to keep them alive.

Long version - I was asked (on another forum) if I could create a small 4" cube out of steel. The cube is to replace the many vases that have been destroyed due to gardeners/landscapers that tend to a graveyard where a member's wife was laid to rest years ago.

He visits the grave every Sunday, replacing the flowers with fresh roses he grows in his garden at home, so they need to last a little while in between those days.

The request came about as he watches stuff I've posted and wanted me to handle this personally.

Because of that, I want to do something different and do it for free.

Vase is welded up but the primer is drying. Thinking if he really likes it and requests another, I'll make a larger one as a regular order.

    20250922_133512.jpg

Requirements - water tight, durable (for outdoor use), black in color, and need multiple printed in case they need to be replaced over time.

I can grab them tonight, but the intent was to share the Fusion file for the vase as those would be much more accurate

I don't know how to figure out volumes using parts on Fusion

Thinking as much as possible, all the way to the bottom

Think of it as a test tube, with the top chopped off

I'm half considering it having a "lip" to sit in top of the circular opening

Shooting the file in a bit, making the kiddo a grilled cheese
