my printer is a geeetech a30 pro. belts are fine, motors are fine, i really dont print a lot. if i print too fast, it jerks a lot and triggers a layer shift only on the Y axis. the layer it does it on varies a lot, no figuring it out. i'm not a fan of their "superplate" bed so i may order a new one and use my fulament magnet on it.

On all types of filament or just ABS? When was the last time you checked the frame bolts?

I love octoprint. Really nice to be able to monitor the print from the garage or another room and it gives you the ability to remotely upload code, so you don't have to transfer an sd or mini sd card around to load your prints. Plus, with all the plug ins and everything it's one more thing to tinker with and I know you love tinkering.

I don't have a 3D printer and I always wondered what exactly people use it for on a daily basis.
Thanks for sharing your experiences. Maybe I also need to buy such a device.

I asked the same question in this thread. Someone responded that theirs runs more than it sits idle - there's always something to print.

Now that I'm into it, mine runs more than it sits idle.

Drawer organizers will be my year long project - I'm now most of the way through the tool chest after doing a few things in the kitchen and bathrooms

I used the printer to build it's own enclosure, which was a kind of self-fulfilling project.

    Out of commission again. :annoyed:

A small piece of stray plastic found it's way into the extruder gears and wouldn't clear. The only way to get to that section is to completely disassemble the entire print head. And while doing so, the 1.5mm bolts holding the hot block were plastic welded into place, which took a bit of heat to free, and long story short I got impatient so now I'm waiting on a new hot block.

At least the rest of the print head is clean.

re-printing this tacoma shifter knob in tan, going to use some poly clear to coat it. This one has served me well for many years but its time to color coordinate.

Anyone try the Christmas village yet?

I'm ramping temperature and slowing it down to a painful crawl, I'm hoping to transition towards ever more glassy as it moves up.

I did do the gear pumpkin, and learned the hard way that the printer has been underextruding by a fair amount. That explains quite a few things. :anonymous:

Flow rate has been corrected since.

I'll look for the STL file, just needs to be sealed/water tight -

    H78SOlpBB3lUQJ8rWUzkDkfYiSgCQhNwTTn9izkX.jpg

Alternatively I can just run the water back out through the drain itself by adding pressure to the system and using a ball valve to close the drain.

Or just have both options available and install one once I make a decision with all parts at my disposal.

Looks easy enough to make. I'd give it a try just for the fun of it. What kind of heat does it need to withstand? And does your table run water? No hydrocarbon solvents or anything?

I'll have to get the MSDS on the fluid as it uses a 5 parts water 1 part fluid additive to prevent rust and algaea.

The nozzle itself will never run hot water as it's only for refilling from a tank I'll have below with a submersible pump. The tank will only get drained once a year for maintenance.
