can i simply buy the shock and install it or do i need bushing and all that fun stuff because toytecs website says that the billies package front and rear " Front shocks do not include upper bushings or washers, order separately if needed." i was thinking about setting them at 1.75 with the rear stock or maybe getting the package from toytec including front and rear. anyone with that setup it would be greatly appreciated if you could post some pictures and your opinion

I used the stock bushings springs and hardware. Didn't order anything extra.

My 5100's came with new grommets (bushings) & washers for install, below are a few pics.......

The one picture of the new shock is exactly how it came w/ new hardware,etc;... If you've never replaced "coil over" shocks you need to fully understand the dangers involved, notr the nut I'm pointing at in pic, this nut should NEVER be removed until the coil spring is safely & adequately compressed w/ coil spring compressor, anyway the nut in question is the nut that holds the "pre-load".
If you just try to take it off without doing the afore mentioned proceedure, you stand a very good chance of being severely injured or in some cases, fatalities have occured. If you already know this, I'm sorry for boring you with it & if not then take heed in everything I mentioned to you, hope this helps...........

I got mine from a local distributor here in San diego called AIS & they supply most the offroad shops around town. I got just the fronts, they
cost $200 out the door. I know there are cheaper places but these guys are almost always back ordered, so if you want them cheaper, you wait it seems, I wanted mine like right now so a call was made & an hour later I was getting ready to install...:D:D:D

It was only an extra $20 or so & no waiting for months like some guys in here have....

Actually I went to auto zone & left a $50 deposit & they basically let me use it for free.... good deal !!:D

one more note: There are no specific applications for 5100's for 1st gen. The shock is really spec. for the earlier Tundras, also my 5100's have 4, thats right ,,, 4 settings from stock(bottom groove) up to 2.75" (top groove) alot of guys here think that 2.50" is the 3rd & final setting, I'd tell them to look again. (count your grooves in shock body)

No, you are correct theres a little rake to it seeing how I'm still stock in the rear, I had to listen to all this shit about how I have a "bro'" truck now.
    I didn't even know what a bro' truck was...haha:D

Hey, at least it isn't an F-150....:D

Great info about the coil over install, I had no idea. I'm planning on getting some billi's on the taco as soon as I get around to it. I'm looking to gain about 2'' all around. Would billies all around and an AAL in the rear work for this. Thanks...

I like the bro look,.....( back in the day when we raced muscle car's we lifted the front end for weight transfer off the line) it makes the truck look more aggressive, how much harsher is the ride with the shocks set to 2.75?

scroll to about halfway down this page for pics, parts and dimension used - I just did an approx 2" lift. I didn't use an AAL, I went with the whole leaf pack

I'm sure about the 5100's in front & you should get 2" w/AAL if your current leafs aren't completely sacked..

I'm currently @ 2" & not harsh at all, I mean the ride is a little stiffer but not at all harsh from additional "preload" from adjustment....
