I ran across this cool chair on Wayfair.com...It's fairly complex, but it sells ( very well ) for $ 3400.00 ? or so...It IS Mahogany and all, but hell,I'm figuring out the dimensions of this and already looking at other woods..Birch sounds good to start...I think...I can reproduce a small version out of regular 2x2's and 1x2's ( i think ) But hey, I could build a jig and sell this to a furniture store to start...Go to Cherry Point NC during their big deal and get a booth....Bet I could make good money at ...say...750 bucks a chair...Screenshot_20201111-181136_Wayfair_kindlephoto-343868823.jpg

Sorry but pin the joints and it’ll be flimsy. Dowel, biscuit, or dado them and it’s a shit-ton of time and screws would both time consuming and uas. I wouldn’t buy or make it

It never ceases to amaze me how much people are willing to pay for some furniture. Maybe it's just my broke ass being cheap, maybe it's because I've never been married and had to fight that battle but the majority of my furniture is either old office furniture I picked up off the side of the road or purpose-built utilitarian abominations. My nicest stuff is from Ikea.

What do I do on the side?

Auto work both mechanical and detailing, welding, random odd jobs.

Jack of all trades handy man kinda guy.

Yeah, I've heard something about the trafficking thing..I haven't investigated, but when I do, it'll be a bunch of horseshit I hope...And Key-Rei, I am a dumpster diver competition organizer from College...Thats where my obsession started anyway...And yeah, folks with money will spend stupid amounts on cool stuff, but damn I agree..I actually sell some diver stuff nowadays myself..Love mechanic work, just saves me money, I do killer wax & polish, and odd jobs around my campground...I am totally refurbishing mine currently...Bagleboy...semper fi dude....I'm gonna use Elmers glue and nothing else...lol. ( I'll have a jig set up on a huge table, for every piece to be connected, probably use a top grade glue and figure out the rest...I like to dove tail stuff myself...And this is all smoke right now of course, but everything im place, I could build 2 of these chairs before lunch break dude...Sturdy as fuck and sell them for $1000.00 ea...and make a damn boatload of cash....I might just stick to my horticulture instead..lol..Actually, I'm gonna change the structure a lot...Make it something a lot more legal patent wise..Its just my start...it looks a little too 70's with all the angles anyway...

A back step for when I get older, Carhartt seatcovers, 4Runner wheels, Topper, and "tats all folks"! --for now!!
Looks kind of unique -FOR A LITTLE WHILE! Two months down the road when this "unique thing is setting in the corner coated with regular household dust, you had better plan for a hour ( if you are lucky) or so just to clean the dust off.

if I were to buy/build something that looks like that (excuse for) chair --it would be in pieces in less than an hour, not from falling apart , but from my wife bashing it to bits -over my head if she could!

Oh its ugly..But these folks in Miami are paying 3600.00 ( somewhere in that range ) ..And I can make something that would look better...Its really just a template idea..I know a bunch of the folks in the high end industry who would love to jump in and partner too...Covid has them at low ebb for now.

No way in hell would i pay that for one piece of furniture. That price would have to be for a full house of furniture. Im not cheap , but I don't throw money away either. As far as side job. , I love it. Im retired .

I'm right there with you Red..I think my favorite hobby these days is dumpster diving..Started doing it in College as a competition for a cash pot...I'll pick for my friends nowaday too...I'm not cheap either, but I love refurbishing my stationary 5th wheel with free stuff...And the stuff I find is better quality than I can afford on my pension...I never skimp on my work shop tho...Hey Red, I'm also 60 and have the same red 07 Access cab as you...I decided to go 2 wheel drive this time tho...Mines more camping oriented for now...I'll get some pics uploaded eventually

I like the idea, just not the chair. Hope you find a better fit. Just be sure to have full disclosure or have state of the art disinfection facilities if you sell dumpster salvage. Using it as a basis for ideas is different.

Nice ride man. I got mine thinking i would do some camping , but its not working out that way. I can't talk my wife into it. I thought about putting a cap on but went with a tool box . I have an extra battery and power inverter in there for when the power goes out.

Heres my take on these overpriced items...how do you know it really sells??? Bunch of positive reviews could be all paid marketing. Do you know someone that actually has one? Think about it would any normal person pay $3k for that? Maybe businesses or hotels but all paid by investors $$$.
