This deck doesn't have a CD player. To tell you the truth I can't remember the last time I listened to a CD in my truck! However, it does have a flip down face and instead of a CD player, it has a place to plug in your iPod.

I have the stock deck with the iPod connection to an iPod Video that I leave in the glovebox. I also installed a 10" Bazooka that I got for Xmas. However, I seem to be missing the sounds that should occur between the sub and the factory speakers. It's like I have a lot of mid and highs and lots of really low base but nothing in between.

Do you guys think this would be a decent upgrade?? I plan on speakers afterwards.
    Here is the link.
Here is a link showing how the iPod connects.

    Thanks

It seems okay, but I would go with Kenwood, Alpine or Pioneer. Sony isn't the greatest when it comes to car audio.

Do you think I will notice the "missing" range of audio by replacing with this deck?

For 150 I'd get something like a Kenwood KDCX395 which is what I have and love but you can't go wrong with Kenwood, Alpine, or Pioneer.

What do you mean by missing range? A new head unit even on stock speakers will be a good improvement.

i believe i have the model one up from this one and i like it. i'm not into car audio or anything like that. i had to replace the stock deck because it wouldn't read my cds anymore and plus i wanted an aux hookup and usb port so that's primarily why i got it. i might in the future upgrade but imo why fix something that isn't broken.

The frequency of sound between the low bass that I get with my sub and the mid frequency I get with the stock speakers. I can hear some bass through the factory speakers and then some real low bass frequency from the sub but nothin in between. This is the missing frequency range and I'm wondering if it's mostly due to the deck or not.

If you get a good deck you shouldn't have that problem. I know for a fact that you can overlap the frequencies on the Kenwood that I linked. What deck do you have now?

Just the stock deck. I'm going to wait for the Sony to come on sale. It had a 5 star rating. The kenwood deck looks really nice to though. But I like the media tray in the Sony. I have an iPod video hooked up to the stock deck right now.
