I currently have a RTT mounted on Mobtown crossbars above my Tri Fold Tonneau Cover. I am thinking about adding the PrinSu Roof Rack to my wish list. I'm just not sure if I have a need for it yet. Maybe later down the road. :mudding:

    • What is your preference regarding a lightbar on the roof rack VS mounted on the front bumper?
    • I am looking for some ideas. What do you guys have mounted to your PrinSu Roof Racks?
    • Any advice regarding the PrinSu roof rack?

I have a bumper light bar because I don’t want everyone to see it when I’m not using it.

    - 1650 Pelican with recovery gear and tools.
    - Shovel on drivers side
    - Axe (well, splitting maul) passengers side
    - 4x Maxtrax

Eventually I'm going to put the maxtrax on the Yakima rack on back and get another pelican 1650 up front so I can have storage for a chainsaw, CV joint, and some other various emergency fluids & grease.

The Yakima on the back is gets to carry the high lift, awning, and eventually a road shower. Also might put a fishing rod holder up there too.

Oh shit, you asked for some advice too. lol sorry.

I don't think I'm going to put any lights on top, except for maybe some BD S2's for side and rear lights. Prolly going to aim for 2 BD LP9's for the front when I get a bumper.

As far as mounting stuff, the Prinsu rack is pretty flexible. In my last picture you can see how I spaced the cross bars to allow for the sun roof to open. We encounter wildlife a lot, and hanging out the moon roof has allowed us to get great sightings and photos without being in much danger from the animals, and without scaring them off. The rack will come with a certain type of screw that these little ringlets screw on to. You can find these screws at any hardware store in different lengths, which is a good way to mount other stuff.

Maxtrax, for example require a Prinsu Load Panel (kind of expensive if you ask me) in order to get the maxtrax quick action pin locks. I'm cheap I guess and just bought long versions of the screws I mentioned earlier with some wing nuts and fender washers. They have been working for months.

To mount the Pelican, I didn't want to drill through the case and compromise the water proof qualities of it, so I made brackets and attached them to the "feet" on the case. This let me use the aforementioned screws to mount the pelican. Honestly, the "bracket" was as ghetto job, but nobody's gonna see it anyways.

2 HAM antennas, dune whip, plano full of recovery gear, maxtrax, a lightbar, and ski racks in the winter. And some BD S2s in work / flood for camp lights.

But I also have lights in the bumper... ambers down low for dust, white up top for long distance speed lights.

I like the side lighting. Did you have to add a second battery for that?

Do those prinsu rack light bars throw off any glare? We had a traditional roof mounted one on a trip to Alaska and while it was insanely helpful, the glare was super annoying

Nope, it is just wired to the main battery. Although I did upgrade to a group 31 agm because of the amp draws from all the lights, and the fridge, and the radio. The stock batteries are just meant to start the truck and recharge again, not have a draw like a deep cycle.

On a white truck, it is noticeable for sure. But it isn't blinding. And the lights get used in a lot of hella dark places on desert race tracks in the wasteland Utah west desert.

Always Maxtrax; I didn't get the tray, mounted the pins directly through the crossbars.

    Sometimes a Clipper; Mounted with a Malone boat rack;

I like lights down low, front and ditch Squadrons. One day I might get a lightbar up on the rack but so far so good.

What do you mean you mounted the pins directly through the crossbars? I was told that wouldn't work?

    Got any pics?

I’ve had roof mounted and bumper, I prefer bumper mounted due to glare. All I have mounted so far is my Antenna. No time to work on mounts for my other gear, soon though.

Pins through the bars. Adjust the bar slots to fit. Enjoy.
