The paint on my 14 sucks big balls compared to my 05. Feels gritty on my front end. I can see thin areas and a pin hole to the primer. Theres no type or amount of wax that make it better.

    1) Price. Before the 2015 model u could get a comparably appointed F150 for the same price or maybe less.
    2) Very little leg room in backseat.
    3) Heated mirrors (lack of).
    4) No leather or heated seats (on the OR).
    4) The fact its been the only good mid sized option. I really don't want a big full size vehicle. I like the maneuverability of the small pickups both offroad and in the city. Need some competition to keep prices down and move innovation ahead.

Comparing mine to my other vehicles.
    1. No auto headlight.
    2. The 4.0l seems way under powered since my 2.2l 4cylncivic has the same numbers
    3. QC control. May get flamed but I,ve had my Silverado since 03 and had less recalls and TSB's
    4. No option for power rear slider, which renders it useless for me.
    5. Paint seems thin and cheap
    6. No auto lock/unlock when you put it into drive or park.
    7. No driver and passenger auto up and down windows
    8. Better gauges and less dummy lights would be nice on the OR truck. Would like to know trans temp, oil pressure, voltage, etc.
    9. No option for dual climate control. "probably my biggest dislike since my gf is always too cold and she turns the a/c down"
All in all love this truck the most

The total air conditioning sytem is used for all Tacomas. Hence, a standard cab is very small and has the same as the DC. Half the space for the same unit. Standard cab is quite comfortable, DC is not.

    Probably nothing new here, but:

No place to put the gas cap while refueling, other than letting it hang. WTF?

"Entunes Audio Plus" is not Entunes, or "plus" anything. Thank god for FLTrucks and his nav units.

My wife's Highlander has a taller standard wheel/tire combo and the Taco is embarrassed sitting in the garage.

230 HP on a 4WD truck. Just put the damn Highlander engine in there for chrissake.

Standard non-Homelink, non-compass, non-autodim, non-external temp mirror. Although I only really care about Homelink and external temp.

I know, just bustin' yer ballz a little.. Along with the misguided post seems a few knew of existing issues Tacomas have /bought them anyway/continue to bitch about said issues they already knew about...

The brakes. Specifically the rears. And the ABS is retarted. The hoe runner is essentially the exact same chassis (except the rear springs) and they are rear disc.

Mostly interior mods. Hood work leds, in-cab outlet (I have it switched to the front plug for a cabin heater in the winter), 400w all the time on the inverter, heated mirror add-on, and 4x4 switch illumination. Up coming I want a level kit and hood scoop light bar and possibly line the bed with the led strips.
No heated mirrors on my 2010 trd sport. On my old ford it seemed like the mirror was hollow enough that it got some residual heat from the heater but I pretty much have frosted side mirrors all winter in alaska.

Anyone ever install heated mirrors on a similar model?

I never really had any complaints about my second gen other than the shitty ABS setup. Haven't spent enough time with my 2004 first gen to say what I dislike yet, hopefully not much. I want this one to keep me happy with no complaints. My biggest complaint about my second gen was the lack of highway power with the 4 cylinder, shifting gears all day long, and a laughable amount of room for hauling people in an access cab. If I could do it over, I would go back and get a 2011 double cab v6 automatic and be done with it, but, I can't do that and used prices on second gen v6 double cabs are outrageous with low miles so I found a first gen double cab with low miles in my price range and went with that.

-No heated mirrors. (My 2000 Honda Civic had this)
-That my AC comes on with the defogger. ( I understand the premise, but I like running defogger all the time.)
    -The back D-Rings don't rotate
-The Fact I need to do this ABS Kill switch and Traction switch for H4Low
-When I'm playing music through my headunit, and I get a text on my touch screen, It restarts the song.
    -The gas tank doesn't lock
    -no light under the hood
-no seat side support like my 93 4Runner had
-The fact that my SR5 in Canada is a TRD Sport in the US, and I don't get the cool decals or hood scoop

For the most part everything I didn't like on mine I've already changed to my liking. But the biggest ones were:

The lack of hood struts (stupid prop stick especially once it's lifted)
    No under hood lighting
The center console opening for the driver only (PITA if trying to get something out from the other side)

I argued with the dealer over it for a long time and never got a sensible answer...honestly the one thing I would change about my truck if I had the option.

You can do the swap relatively easy if you have all the parts on hand. Guys have swapped manuals into the first gen double cabs before and none of them came from the factory with a manual option at all.
If 2016 is a whole new redesign, I doubt there will be any manuals offered. I mean look at the facts, Toyota quit offering manual Tundras after the first generation, Ford and Chevy no longer offer manuals in any of their trucks. Manuals are going the way of the 8 track stereo, obsolete, there isn't a big enough demand for them in the US to justify spending more money producing them on the side. 20 years from now there probably wont be any manuals left in cars, sad but true. I myself enjoy a manual, don't get me wrong, but I wouldn't get my hopes up for 3rd generation Tacomas having the option, it's very unlikely. Tacoma and Dodge Cummins are probably the only 2 trucks left you can still get a manual in. Not even sure Nissan Frontier still offers one now.

If I was going to do a manual swap on a DCLB, I would see what it would take to use the 5 speed manual over the 6 just because the 5 speed is superior in every way. You wouldn't think they'd be all that much different to do. I had a 5 speed in my 2011 access cab and it was a great transmission, I just got tired of shifting all the time and sold it and bought an automatic. No longer desire having a manual in a daily driver, that gets old after awhile.

First on the list is what I wished I DID NOT HAVE on my '14 Tacoma.

#1) TPMS system. Far and away the biggest headache of all.

    Now my wish list:

    1) Hood struts
    2) Beefier fuel filler door that opens from a drivers' lever inside the cab.
    3) Optional rear sway bar
    4) Full gauge clusters instead of idiot lights
    5) Power rear sliding window
    6) More rigid tailgate with soft-drop
    7) Power antenna

    That's really about it.....
