I kinda broke the steering column so it won't be warranty. It's further back in the assembly,
Pretty sure it goes here... But not sure how

I am pretty sure that is the locking device for the telescoping feature. If you look at DoorDings second picture in the square labeled 45250 there it is right up on top. It appears to slide in from the bottom.

Maybe this will help: This is a side view of the column, the top is the top side of the column and the right side is where the steering wheel would be. The lever arm partial is the tilt arm locking lever on the bottom with the spring attached. I'll see if I can find a better picture. This is from the service manual.

Just updated a second image Above. I'm sure this is the device in question.

Now for the real story. This is my take, tell me if I am wrong.

You blew your stack and was jerking on the steering wheel when something came loose ( the locking device pictured above ). You were like Oh Shit! Then here you are...

Am I close? Be honest. And by the way we know you ain't innocent, you drive a Tacoma. :)

I guess that the OP is out making up a BS story to tell the dealership how it just " Fell Out " on its own.
