I have a 1998 tacoma v6 with the SR5 Limited packages.. I had my truck repainted last year and the plate on the inside of the door was removed at the body shop. I was wanting to know what gears i have in my truck. I have 33x12.50s on 17" RBP wheels. It is a 5 speed and i can put it in first gear and take off without giving it gas. Also i can be rolling at idle, mash the brake and give it gas and boil the tires like nothing. I figured that was pretty good for 33" tires and no gear reduction on a 6 banger.. Any ideas on what gearing i may have?

There is about 6 gear ratios availible for your year. Without the gear code, your gonna have to jack up the back end, spin the tires one revolution, and count how many times the drive shaft rotates.

You can e-mail the number to Toyota, and see if they give you info.
