lol very nice and I totally agree with you. I don't buy the $10.00 compact fluorescent bulbs (they are bad for your eyes in a way) and Fuck Toyota .. Prius's of course! I leave my truck idling when I am 4x4ing, ... ect. Humans will not even have a small impact on the earth, we may run out of natural resources, but that's our problem, not natures.

    Great post btw

Eh, kinda sorta. But that's how corporations have always worked.

Toyota got your money in the 80s and 90s by building super reliable cars. That was The Thing then. Now, they get your money by having the leading hybrid status symbol you use to make your neighbors jealous.

Smart companies will retool to take advantage of "environmentalism". Stupid companies will die/be bailed out.

Now cap and trade...THAT would cost us all.

Global warming is the wacky left wingers theory. It is their way to make excuses to take control of your life. I am sure Chris 4X4 can chime in.

Actually, Global Warming is absolutely occurring.

The wacky theory is that human behavior is responsible. I find it interesting that "climate change" is now a bad thing...when was it ever static before?

Compared to when? And where are you measuring? And who's numbers?

Just today we went through a 35 degree swing here in Cackalacky from when I went in to work and when I left.

The North American continent experienced radical warming once the sun came up.

It's a complex subject. The analyses I've seen that haven't been piss poor point to overall warming if you average the planet as a whole based on where we actually have data sets from. Compared to, of course, centuries ago, at least for the areas we have ice core samples from.

    Is it a complex subject?

Maybe it's simpler than everyone wants to pretend. Maybe the weather does whatever the fuck it wants and all debate on the subject is some silly, silly shit.

I really don't think that we have any way to justify global warming. They have been looking at temps over what the past 100years? 100 years on this planet is a very short period of time. I'm sure if we could look at average temps from the past million years I'm sure that this exact same thing has happend before.

The audacity to think humans control the planet's climate is arrogance on a mind-boggling scale if you think about it.

But again: A lot of grant money and marketing revenue depends on this silly concept.

If you want to go deeper: Take a few ideas you believe strongly in, read up on the opposing viewpoint, and then realize they're bullshit as well. Suddenly realize all these "issues" in our society are machinations of men, equally fallible, and really do nothing more in the grand scope of existence than keep us busy for a while. After all, we don't want to get bored.

Pretty much...."temperature analyses" are creatively named statistics, and do what statistics do...which is to say, can be wrangled about to support whichever viewpoint happens to be using the calculator right that second.

I spectate the debate for amusement purposes, but since "climatology" (LOL) can't be experimentally tested, it's not a science...more a glorified form of information gathering.

That's not to say the work is without merit, but people are jumping to some crazy-ass conclusions based on this stuff. That wouldn't be a problem by itself, but then politicians pick the shit up and decide to leverage it to stay popular in their district, and start passing laws based on half-assed information. That's when it gets dangerous.

Did you misinterpret my response to somehow be anti-corporate?

Less knee jerk, more communication please...if you actually want to discuss the situation, that is.

The "cost to everyone else" you mentioned earlier goes somewhere, like all revenue. If some company's not getting it, some individual, or some government, or some Mafia family is. Whether or not you consider any of these entities "bad" or "good" largely depends, in my experience, on whether or not you're the party benefiting. Organized Crime, for example, is very much in favor of money laundering, whilst the IRS generally opposes it (unless the richass crime lords have purchase the correct senators and lobbied the right legislation into law).

Me? I'm largely in it and responsible for myself. And I don't give a shit about climate change, so I'm not remotely invested in whether corporate entity X is a "climate criminal". I just want to know if I own their stock, and if so, how's it doing?

i laugh, al gore flys over my city everyday in his private jet, then goes to one of his many mansions, which of course has no eco friendly global warming saving stuff in it, has 6 fire places, a bunch of fountains that run on electricity, a pool.
