What happened to global warming?

No, I can't name a source. Trying to think where I heard/read that. And I trying to say the whole thing (warming) is speculation/opinion.

 

Not a clue, but that stuff was everywhere over a large patch of the Gulf and seemed like it wasn't going anywhere fast.

The tar balls have spread all over. Didn't find them ALL THE WAY into TX, just a couple dozen miles over the Gulf border. Obviously, from AL through to this point, though.

During the TX open this year, and the three months I was in the Gulf, the catch wasn't bad. Just fyi, we were after brown shrimp and TX is the only area to close it's waters for a time. There were a few dead zones (don't know what that's attributed to, though). The seafood IS good to eat... so I hear (I don't eat seafood). LAST YEAR the catch was atrocious. The animals had a sheen all over them, and I was told by the shrimpers that some had black lines/veins coarsing through their bodies. Currently, as of this very second, the shrimp count is low. Again, I don't know what this is attributed to.

One of the things about the SIZE of the catch per boat is to know that hurricanes and the spill put a lot of shrimpers out of business, meaning less boats for the amount of shrimp in the water.

 

So, Mother Nature kinda taking care of herself? Hurricanes not spill mind you.

 

Hurricanes AND the spill. And the hurricanes I'm referring to were BEFORE the spill.

Multiple hurricanes decimated the processing plants, the boats, the homes, the catch. Money went into repair. When areas were able to get on their feet the oil spill came and drove a nail in the coffin of a number of these businesses. While the shrimping season was cutdown (since it was closed for a while), the catch itself was severely affected due to the poison in the water, the death of the animals, and the movement of what was left. It was amazing to pull nets upon nets of putrid skeletons off the bottom of an area that looked "alive."

 

That's sad to hear. Wonder why prices didn't skyrocket for domestic seafood?
