Actually, if you want too see something truly amazing, look at this country over the same time period. We've cut down at least as many trees (probably more since the country is much larger), with most land sold today (for new homes, stores, and businesses) almost completely barren of trees.

To be honest, this trend worldwide is likely the real cause of any global warming. Trees shade the land, helping it to absorb and retain water. Without that, the land absorbs more heat, warming the surrounding atmosphere. At the same time, that dried earth is less capable of absorbing water, leading to local water shortages. All this combined surely impacts the weather, causing floods in some areas and droughts in others.

I like to lean on hope that the proper management and as being a good steward of the resources both provides an economic benefit (jobs and building materials) as well as providing for a positive effect on the global environment. At least, that is what I tell myself when I print 200 sheets of drawings, every couple of days, for the construction project I am working on.
