    To paraphrase Upton Sinclair.

It's difficult to get a man to understand something when his whole way of life depends on him not understanding it.

I've long been skeptical of global warming but I understand I don't want to give up my lifestyle to potentially immeasurably change the future. I enjoy reducing my gas use as a challenge and because I'm a cheapskate, not because I think I'm saving earth.

I don't see Canadians doing any different than Americans in the move to reduce carbon footprint though.

We drive gas guzzling pickup trucks, why do any believers even own pickup trucks if they know it's part of the problem.

yep, ...the funny thing about the alarmists is they tend to ignore the dramatic effect our sun has on the earth... i watched a show on NOVA about how NASA is studying the sun, ...and it is quite remarkable what they are discovering about it... it is an unimaginably turbulent entity, that goes through cycles to some extent... not only does it have direct impact on "climate", but also w/ electromagnetism from CMEs...

Global warming is caused by all the blowhards like Al Gore talking about the effects of global warming..!

I recently took an earth science class and, well, needless to say the Prof. wasn't to keen on me when the subject of global warming came up. My assessment was that global warming is a political scheme for all the "Al Gores" of the world to rob people blind of their hard earned Ca$h, and that was about it.

The common sense part of my brain tells me that we (humans) haven't been on this planet long enough in the scope of the time that the earth has been in existence to truly determine our true impact, and anyone who believes we can determine our impact, really needs to have their head examined...But something tells me that back in the day of dinosaurs, that they likely had an equal if not bigger impact on the planet in terms of global warming simply by their gaseous outputs!

(Caveat: Like most of the people worried about global warming, I don't have a real good set of concrete data to back up my statements above either..)

The reality of it all is that it really doesn't matter, because much like the the parasites before us, when mother earth is ready to get rid of us, she will and the whole issue will be revisited when the next evolution of life forms in our place.. so for now, I am trying to offset the greenies by "Maximizing my carbon footprint potential..." :D

Just found this thread. Didn't bother reading the whole thing but anyway...

Anyone remember teh volcano in Iceland that shutdown Europe a few yrs ago? I read that that volcano for 2 weeks or whatever pumped out more co2 gas than every car in the world for 10 yrs or something. The Earth may be warming, but its still yet to be determined if humans are doing it or not. There are way too many factors and money involved. The scientist use scare tactics to get more cash for research. If not they would be broke. During the middle ages we know that England had a much warmer climate and different grapes grew there than now. This was also a factor in the black plague.

I think we all can agree that we waste a lot of resources and we can all benefit from a cleaner environment, but we can't expect nations to hault production and everyone to buy a prius. It would all just be drops in a bucket.

I wish I thought of this sham before Al Gore. Not a bad way to bilk $100,000,000 from the masses.

You can eliminate the 'concrete data' the 'scientists' are so fond of manipulating by remembering the following FACTS:

There have been at least 12 to 15 major ice ages in our past.
    They all receded.
There wasn't one smokestack or SUV in sight.

So, since the climate has changed it the past, man isn't influencing it now? Sounds like bro logic
