Buddy had a FFL friend of his retire and selling off some inventory 5 factory 19x mags mix of 19 and 17 rounders $100. Bought up the last of his inventory on them. Already had a bunch guess I'll load these up and leave them in my SHTF ammo can

100RDs federal 124g HST 9mm didn't want to pay $1 rd but prices ain't dropping anytime soon and I've only got 1box left. I need to cycle some through the P365 just to make sure no ftf fte issues. Don't want any surprises if I have to use it in real life.

When I was living in WA, I was at Rainier Arms and there was a dude buying a LWRC PDW to keep in the door pocket of his Vette. This could become gun related.

    Warning rant inbound...

I took my 10.5" AR pistol into my LGS to have a new handguard (and barrel nut) installed and to have my SilencerCo ASR flash hider cranked on there. I don't have a vise and AR blocks and stuff so I brought it in thinking it would be an easy job. It steamrolled into such a mess of shit that I will never spend another dime there. They were my FFL for my suppressors, I've bought at least 4 guns there this year alone.

The gun is an Aero lower that I assembled (no scratches, woot) with a parts kit and PSA completed upper combo. It came with a nickel boron bolt carrier and a EPT trigger and MBUS sights and stuff and was an easy build. It went together and shot fine. It came with a 12" handguard (over the 10.5" barrel) but it had a flash can thing that looked cool and brought the end of the muzzle past the handguard. When I got my Omega 36M (bought from this same FFL) it became apparent that it wasn't going to fit inside the handguard. So I ordered a PSA 9" handguard - of course it had a different barrel nut so I brought my parts in to the gunsmith to have the simple swap done.

They checked my pistol in and called me the next day (fast service) to say it was ready. So I hopped in the truck and rolled the 20 miles to pick it up. When I got there the counter person told me that "the old barrel nut wouldn't budge and that it kinda messed up the threads on my upper receiver. No worries though the gunsmith got it back together and I'm good to go." I found it odd that they didn't let me know of the damage on the phone. I paid the $35 labor charge and took it home thinking I was ready to crank off some suppressed rounds.

Got home and threw my sling back on and put my can on and was getting ready to rock when I noticed my ejection port cover was floppin around like crazy. On closer inspection the port door spring was put back together wrong. Mildly frustrating but everybody makes mistakes, right? So I hop back in the truck 20 miles of highway back to the LGS to have them fix the ejection door spring. Main sales/range instructor dude there grabs my pistol and heads off into the back for a LONG time. He finally comes back and tells me the spring is fixed but the barrel timing is off and they need to check in my pistol to further repair it. So I leave it there and roll.

Several days later I get the call that it is ready once again to be picked up. I ask what they did and get told they replaced my upper receiver with a Wilson Combat and I owed another $75 in parts and $35 more in labor. Once again, in the truck for the trip down to pick it up. I got my old barrel nut and upper back - the keyway on the upper is all fucked and the threads on both are screwed up. No wonder the barrel timing was off. I was ok paying for the upper (would have preferred an Aero Precision, or a phone call with some options) but I told them the additional $35 in labor to re-do their previous job was silly so they didn't charge me the labor. I once again rolled home thinking I was ready to screw on my can and get some lead down range.

At this point I look over my pistol from tip to butt (Garand Thumb reference) as they haven't really made me very confident that "you're good to go" means anything. I look at my optic (a Cabelas AR 3x prism) and notice one mounting screw is shorter and is missing both of its washers. I pull the optic off and find the pic rail cross bolt is broken and the nut has about 3 threads to grip - no room for washers anymore. At this point I'm pretty pissed and hop right back in the truck to go chat about my broken optic.

The counter guy apologizes ("My bad, I was supposed to tell you that the bolt broke") but I insist on talking to the gunsmith. We went into the shop (hadn't ever been back there before) and I asked him about the broken bolt. He blamed it breaking on a shitty design, said he looked around for something that would work but couldn't find anything, and that he could maybe try to fabricate something. I couldn't fathom that dude actually machining a pic rail cross bolt after seeing how bad he fucked up a basic AR. I grabbed my broken optic and gun and took off - time to cut my losses.

I called the owner the next day to share my experience and to let him know why he would never see me in there again. He took zero responsibility for anything and blamed the whole thing on me, saying "you cannot bring us cheap, faulty stuff (which you bought on the internet) for us to fix, then complain when we actually do fix it... but just not to your standards." He told me that they wouldn't work on PSA stuff in the future.

It is pretty sad that my standards (a properly assembled AR) exceed those of my LGS.

    Fuck that place forever.

    Rant over.
