That is beyond ridiculous! Just spend the money and buy your own tools to work on your guns. I hate that you had to go through that.

To me the statement that he bought "cheap stuff from the internet" is a copout but what do I know

Yep just trying to put blame on anyone but themselves. Psa has high quality parts for a good price. I personally have 4 psa ar's and literally have had zero issues with any of their products.

Always work on your own stuff. The earth is crawling with dipshits.

The list of stuff I do myself because I don't trust others to do it has become very long over the years.

The only thing I have ever taken my ARs to a gunsmith for was go/no go gaging. After the third build, I bought my own set of gages for 556 and 308

Two times I have taken guns, with different problems to two different gunsmiths.

One time the problem was remedied, the other time it was made worse.

BOTH TIMES THE IDIOTS SCRATCHED THE SHIT OUT OF THE GUNS.

My theory is ther no magic to modern gunsmith. All the old guys who gave a shit, died.

    damn that's bad.

I recently found out that PSA complete uppers use a barrel nut unlike any others so my armorer's wrench didn't work on it. We took a Knipex to it and it came off(we were fixing barrel clock issue and other stuff). But before doing this work I read a lot of forum posts saying PSA barrel nut is notoriously tight and people were assuming it was red loctite. I had a heat gun and torch ready but this very new PSA came loose easy. It annoyed me I could use my normal armorers wrench though.

I guess my point is did that LGS try to use heat to remove barren nut?

There is nothing on an AR that requires a gunsmith.

Thanks - lesson learned, I'm investing in tools.

After dropping $1k+ on a can and buying a couple LCP Maxs' right when they came out for me and Mrs Taco guess I'm still a cheap bastard to them. :spending:

My other PSA AR is sweet. This one worked too, it just turned into a pile of shit somehow.

    Seriously

Yep. Add this to my list now. I feel like general incompetence is becoming more socially accepted as the norm.

They never mentioned using heat. Even if it was cross threaded they should have just called and said "dude your AR needs parts" and I would have been fine with it. I burned up half a tank of gas dealing with their hamfisted bullshit "gunsmith".

I'll try to post a couple pics of my stuff to see what you guys think.

The only way I know how is to replace the bolt. Assuming the manufacturer did their job, they headspaced the extension when the barrel was installed, prior to gas port being drilled. I’ve never had an issue with AR15s, but I have had a headspace issues with AR10s. I know buy my bolts from the Sam place as my barrels to eliminate headspace and lockup issues.

Maybe if you bought 25 or 30 bolts. The barrel mfg doesn't make bolts anyway.

    My question was mostly rhetorical.

I worked for many years at an archery pro shop. I saw alot of the same elitism with fellow employees looking down on folks that bought stuff online or at Walmart. I never could figure it out. Partially they could have bought from us and had free installations and hve come out cheaper in many cases but I could never talk down to anybody for doing or buying what they did. A guy here in town that owns a machine shop and sells guns will recomend you buy PSA every chance he gets. I don't personally have a PSA but know several who do and I have never heard any complaints

LGS had a little sale going on yesterday and picked up an Anderson 16" upper w/ no handguard, BCG, or charging handle but for only $120 for the receiver, barrel, break, and gas system I didnt think I got hurt too bad. Also scored 5 Lancer mags for $10 each.
