Exactly! That's why I went ahead and got this one as opposed to the ones that were pricier. I can always build another one with everything I want when budgeting isn't as big of an issue (got a kid on the way in 2 weeks).

Is that the Bushnell 1x32? If so, that's the exact same upper I ordered for my wife. lol FYI, the one you linked is the premium which is a bit different but still pretty close to the one that comes with the optics. The one you linked to is the 'premium' and the one they sell w/the Bushnell, Sparc & other optics isn't the Premium. The difference is chrome lined barrel, a couple small other things and about $100. If I'm going to buy a 'Premium' upper it's not going to be a PSA. I think if you're going to buy a PSA upper the cheapest is the best option. That's just my opinion.

If you end up going with an AR15, let me know. I might have some 'spare parts' laying around... :spy:

Yeah, it is the 1x32. The one I linked was just similar in style to the one I ordered since I couldn't find the exact one on the site anymore (unless I just overlooked it). Cheap is the reason I went with PSA. If I want a premium upper then I'd most likely do all my research on parts first and most likely build one.

My 1911 Magpul grips came today. I like them so far, nice and thin but haven't had a chance to shoot it yet.

I love them. I'm a Magpul fanboi though so take that for what it's worth.

They're replacing SI Custom grip panels and there are some differences I noticed pretty quickly. The Magpul grips are thinner, which I like, and have more of a cut out at the thumb for the mag release, making it easier for me to press the button without changing my grip. I liked the SI Custom grips but I wasn't a fan of the big punisher emblem on the side.

I loved mine. But i also put them on a RIA 1911 in 10mm. The factory ones just chewed up my hands. It hurt to shoot after a mag just cause of the grips. Changed out to the magpul and it was bliss. Ill shoot 100 rounds now and not really complain. Made it much more enjoyable to shoot and it also felt great in my hands. For the ~20 bucks i paid its hard to beat them.

I wouldnt put them on a show gun or anything but for a fun gun to shoot they work great.

What ammo do you all recommend for 12 gauge home defense

Cheap #00 or slugs depending on how far you plan to engage. My home defense 12ga (which is like my 5th option for HD) wears the Federal military #00 and two slugs on the side if I need to engage further. That's likely never going to happen because the only situation I can envision needing to go beyond the engagement range of #00 would be if they were running down the street and I sure as shit better not be shooting at them still. lol

Don't fall for marketing hype. When it comes to 12ga and AR15's more expensive doesn't mean better.

Looks like your experience with Federal was similar to mine. I've used it in six shotguns of varying design (870, 11-87, Benelli M4, Saiga 12, KSG & SPAS) with good luck. I do good work with a shotgun and have plenty of practice but it's still not my preferred weapon system for HD nor would I recommend it to a beginner/novice for that task for various reasons. Not saying anyone here is I just hear that recommendation to anyone of any skill level all the time and it makes me cringe. Of all the systems you could choose it probably requires the MOST discipline for that roll and not the least as many try to make it seem.

I'm spoiled by my Glock extended magazine release so for me I put in a 10-8 extended mag release on my TRP Operator and it still wasn't enough. Magpul finally came out with their 1911 grips & I was in the front of the line. It's exactly what the Dr ordered for me on this gun and mag changes are much quicker for me now. I also did the 10-8 extended slide stop and 10-8 flat trigger (which I still need to install) along with a captive spring plug and a few other goodies.

I bought this yesterday... M&P shield 9mm, now that the weather is warming up. I wanted something smaller and lighter, wearing less or thinner clothes I wanted to minimize any printing while concealed carrying. Winter I carry a kimber pro carry 2 in 45acp.

Got a great deal on the M&P down in Kentucky while on TDY. Under 400 with a military discount and cash purchase. My per diem money well spent, lol
