I'm also in the market for a safe but remodeling the home here in the next few months including all new flooring. Waiting until the new floors installed because I'm not moving the safe twice.

I love my Timber Creek trigger guard, it’s awesome! This build looks completely different now but best shot I have of the trigger guard.

No experience here, but at that price point, they're probably the typical drywall lined safes. Some claim the off gassing of the drywall chemicals causes corrosion issues, but I've not experienced that with a similarly priced safe. I open it fairly often and run/recharge desiccant boxes as needed.

All three of my Cannon safes are great. For the price you can’t beat them in my opinion

4" S&W 610 10mm. Hadn't planned on getting any pistols for the foreseeable future, but this fell in my lap, and with a $200 gift card, a trade of a revolver I didn't really shoot, I was well under $500 out the door on it. Now just need to get some more 10mm moon clips

Have fun trying to find real 10mm ammo. The stuff on the shelf these days is just .40 in a long case. Heck, even relaoding for them is hard these days.

Its a solid safe, I have 2 but the metal is thinner than some of the higher end safes out there. Make sure to bolt it down and put it in a spot that restricts access with a pry tool.

I think I actually decided on this one. Plenty of room for growth and not a bad price. Its a 26 long gun, rated at 45 minutes at 1400 in case of fire. If my house burns down, my guns are probably the least of my worries, but a bit longer than 30 and higher temp is still some added peace of mind.

A good way to judge a safe is by mass. If the size and fire rating between two safes are the same but one is significatly heavier they most likely have thicker or additional layers of steel. Most safes are around 12 or 10 gage steel and some like fort knox will add an additional inner layer of steel. Most of the lower and even middle of the road gun safe companies do not advertise the gage of steel used because it would disappoint most people.

Edit: the door and the left/right sides are usually the thickest with the back and bottom being a thinner gage which is why you should bolt these down. A thief will tip a safe over to attack the thinner parts or lay it down to be able to use a lever to pry the door open using his weight.

I have a love/hate relationship with fringey/almost common/low bang-for-the-buck calibers. 10mm and 300bo. I have lots of ammo for it, but like Scrooge McDuck, I don't want to do anything but swim in it.

I have two Winchester 26 guns. The quality is much higher than the Cannon I just put in. The Cannon is a standard drywall safe, with fixed racks. I can make it work, but it would not have been my first choice, had it not been for the cost. I had three rifles hanging in the closet with rifle hangers, and I needed to get them stowed properly. Ultimately.....next (last) house, I will have a reinforced room, with separate ventilation, to allow me to work on my guns. For now, in this house the Cannon will work.
