No. You have to specify a caliber. But there's nothing stopping you from legally owning multiple SBR uppers for your registered lower.

Waiting on BOTH stamps. I bought an SDN-6 to mate with it. If you look closely in the pic....the pins are not closed therefore they are not technically mated..;)

You have to specify the caliber in which the can was manufactured for but nothing stopping you from mating that can with any and all additional calibers it'll work for.

    See above.

Ehhh still shows intent to manufacturer which can still get you in trouble. Not that youd probably ever get in trouble for it but still is part of the rules. Granted i dont agree with the NFA laws at all except for MGs. I still wouldnt go showing it off as a SBR without a stamp. Or if you wanted to at least take the stock off and call it a pistol.

I have the SDN6. Still not totally sold on it as of yet. Sounds great and compares well to my TBAC 30p1 (granted i shoot 556 and 300blk through sdn6 and 308 through 30p1 so not a direct comparison). Accuracy wise is where im not to happy with it as of yet. Still got to test it more but it seems like the first 10-20 rounds the groups are all over the place (5MOA type) but after that itll go back to shooting 1-2MOA. But like i said i really need to sit down at the range and test it out so more and see if it truly is the can or something else. Ive only put maybe 100 rounds total through it shooting more for groups. The rest thave been load development. I know its not a "accuracy" can but the grouping isnt even uniform like 2 moa down or anything. one round is 4moa high, the next 2 moa left, next will be POA, next 4 moa down lol. Still loads of fun though!

Right. And nothing I said was incorrect, so I assume your quotes are quotes of agreement.

I use my 30 cal can on a 308 Win, two 300 BLK guns and two 223 guns. But we (I) was specifically referencing the SBR stamp, not the can stamp.

That's not how it works. I've kept numerous NFA uppers in my safe for friends who don't own any SBR or pistol lowers because if you get pinched for some reason and you have NFA uppers but no SBR or pistol lowers it's intent and is every bit as bad as having it pinned to one of your lowers. ATF no care so know your NFA rules or you could end up in hot water. The odds are stupid low but still, I wouldn't be posting up pics online and talking about it because those dots are pretty easy to connect these days.

Back in the 'good ol days' you could simply put 'multi' for caliber but the ATF decided to start kicking those back. Now it's advised that you list the caliber listed on the side by the original manufacturer. Once it's SBR'd you can technically have any length or caliber upper on it... for now. It's only a matter of time before they decide that's not good enough and your SBR lower has to have the exact bbl length, OAL and caliber as you have on your approval form. As if the laws weren't unreasonable enough. 18mos for an approval from when your check is cashed.

Its been my understanding that in the ATF's mind all they care about is that you can put it back to the "original" configuration. So if it is a 9" 300blk out on the Form 1 then you should have a 9" 300blk upper to put on it. but you can still toss on your 12" 556 or 8" 762x39 or whatever you want.

And i havent heard of anybody taking 18mo. If anything times are going down. My SDN-6 took 12 months. My 30p1 took 8mo. Times are slowly coming back down.

That's the way it is now but like I said, it's only a matter of time...

As far as timeframe goes, I've got four more pending forms currently. On two the official estimate from the ATF was 18+ months from when you went into queue & it took a couple of months for that to happen. You know they're behind when it takes them about 2mos just to cash the check & get paid. Times are starting to come down a little but they're still absurd. It's a de facto ban on NFA items.

I wouldnt worry on the time frame the ATF gives you. They give out way longer than expected. Most people ive seen have been quoted the 12 month though and have been getting them in 8-10 months or earlier. Seems like the ATF just gives out a blanket response to time frame just so people cant come back and go "you said 6 months and it has been 7!"

Hopefully WA gets our act together so i can finally form 1 my pistol. I have a nice Rainier Arms ultramatch billet lower i (hopefully) can use. Dont really want to have to buy a factory SBR. Only 2 more weeks till our bill goes live though!

I know how the time frame works... this ain't my first rodeo. The point is there was a time when the estimate was 6mos and you'd get a stamp back in 2-3mos. Now the estimate has been up to 18mos and people are HAPPY to get them in a year. That's unacceptable is my point. There's no reason at all something like this should take this long. ESPECIALLY if you already have an approved NFA item let alone several. The system is b0rk and needs to be addressed. I know someone who's an examiner and he said they doubled their staff last year and are getting them up to speed but the amount of people they brought on won't affect the current work load that much. They need to quadruple the # of examiners because the turnaround on these is BS and has been for years before it even got to the absurd 18mos estimates.

You know what else is BS....the $200 tax you pay the BATF, doesn't even stay with the BATF.
