After shooting a random old .22 revolver a couple weeks ago I decided it was time to get a wheelgun.

At first I was looking at the Ruger Wrangler, I figured I'd get the all black one and fancy it up with some sweet wood grips and call it a day. I've handled the Wrangler plenty of times and it seems fine, but more of a utility thrasher than a sweet revolver.

Mrs. Taco urged me to get something better so I ended up ordering a Ruger Single Six convertible (comes with both .22LR and .22WMR cylinders) in stainless steel.

My very first handgun circa 1982 IIRC, in stainless, for less than $170 new. Fine piece of machinery that I still own (and just shot recently). What an accurate gem, you're gonna like it!

I didn't "buy" anything today for my Delton AR other than picking it up from a gunsmith. I took apart my California Compliant (stupid me) rifle to give it a good cleaning but could not get the upper to lock again to the lower because of the modification. Best comment that I heard from the gunsmith is that the may be forthcoming lawsuits in California to undo the modifications currently required. My only other option was to register my AR as an "Assault Weapon". That I was not going to do!

Sighted the vortex in today. Need to fine tune it some more as my daughter was shaking the truck while in and out catching horned lizards. Just curious, what range do you all tend to sight red dots for? Currently I'm pretty tight at 50yrds. Not sure how practical it is to worry much farther than that.. but open to suggestions. I do have a 30-06 for the longer range stuff 20220805_151104.jpg

I run my red dots at 25/200 zero. With this at zero you are 1.9in low. At 25 your are on. At max ordinate you are 1.9 inches high and at 200 you are dead on. This is a great setup for CBQ ranges that is reliable and predictable under stress.

    LPVOs are zeroed at 100yd.

Picked up my AR-10 lower yesterday, got some 308 and 300 mags, and some new steel with T-post mounts (the octagon and coffin in the pic). Also grabbed some 9mm and 5.56.

Then I broke out the welder and fixed some shot up target stands to take out to the woods today.

Anybody try the .22lr conversion for the ar? I’ve been thinking of getting one to be able to shoot cheaper.

Yes I have one it’s fun. I have found if you run it wet it works just fine and mine has NOT been picky about ammunition type

Tried a CMMG conversion. 22LR shoots like complete garbage out of a fast twist AR. If you just want to hit pop cans, I guess it's ok. Leads the barrel pretty good too, so shoot some 556 through it when you're done.

Ended up buying a regular 1:16 22lr barrel and used the CMMG bolt with it. Very accurate.

I've got the same and it's run just fine with no lube lol. Or well minimal lube. Reminds me I do need to go clean it one of these days.

Given any thought to a dedicated upper?
    https://www.bearcreekarsenal.com/calibers/ar-22/ar-22-complete-uppers.html
I'm thinking about getting one for my SBR lower, since my S&W 15-22 is waiting for it's integrally suppressed upper to get out of jail.
