Depends how little you want to spend but you can get a Romeo5 and some Holosuns for a small amount more.

Couple of years ago, on a whim (ok, there may have been alcohol involved), I bought a cheap, maybe $50, Chinese-made red dot with a similarly priced 3x flip-flop. Figured if they were garbage, well, the boys could throw it on a .22 for chuckles and plink away. It actually holds zero remarkably well, so I haven't removed it yet. Once it dies, and I assume it won't last terribly long, I'll replace it with something a tad nicer. Maybe something Vortex. The flip-flop, on the other hand, had an egregiously narrow "sweet spot", outside of which all was black. So, that went.

The MSR is being sold on Amazon by The Sig Store, which I assume is associated with the manufacturer. Hope it's not a knockoff, although I understand the MSRs are made in China anyway, so...we'll see, I guess.

@montijo505 congrats! Which one is that? I'm not well versed enough to know exactly which make and model that one is but looks like a Q product.

    Same crap everyone else got
Nah just a souvenir of one when me and a buddy road tripped to maine to slack pack another buddy on the AT for a few miles and we wanted to hike up katahdin. Two fresh out of college kids from GA, no job, no worries. Camped out the whole time we were on the road, slept in an old camper behind the blue ox saloon in millinocket the owner was kinda enough to let us stay in. We got to Maine via Canada from Niagara falls. Was detained at the boarder on our way back in for 3 hours bc we had spare rounds just rolling around the center console. Fun times!

problem/causal for this, I heard from a reliable source, is:
    • Lets say you are in NY and intend to buy a genuine Colt firing pin from the Amazon "Colt store" [SKU# 1234567890]
    • The legit firing pin supplied by the Colt is actually located in a warehouse in CA and would take 3-4 days to process, pick, ship, deliver
    • Another Amazon [re]seller "discount parts inc." they live and die off of low prices, they aggressively source from the lowest bidder; they inadvertently (Or knowingly) sourced a knock off Colt firing pin. It is "Loaded" in the Amazon system with the same SKU# but actually warehoused in NJ.
    • Rather than ship the one from CA to your home in NY, Amazon will "Pull" and ship to you the one from the NJ warehouse. There is some behind the scenes accounting but in the end, in theory everyone is happy
    1. You: Get the product faster
    2. Amazon: Gets paid, keeps the machine running, also has the ability to flex distribution centers (i.e. distribution center in NJ is closed/delayed due to backlogs/storm/strike, rather than wait it out, they can pull from a different one, maybe the same SKU is also in the OH warehouse)
    3. "Colt Store": gets paid for the sale (They agreed and/or were forced to accept this system)
    4. "Discount parts inc.": possibly gets a tiny cut for turning over product. In the future they may also benefit when the reverse happens and a legit SKU is shipped from Colt warehouse to their customer.
The sad reality is sometimes Crooked ass counterfeiters slip their knock-off shit into the pipeline. Purely a numbers game for them; sooner or later Amazon or Customs or "Discount Parts Inc." catches them and cuts it off, but they did/will sell a bunch, make some coin; they will just reset/rebrand and repeat. The hardship for the us is higher costs and less competition

@OnePuttBlunder What is "crappy AP part"

FWIW: I got an upgraded/delux [whatever they called it] lower build kit from Palmetto State Armory. Works fine, tested with ~ 100 rnds between 2 separate sessions... I noticed when cleaning that the firing pin (Compared to my civilian Colt AR and the issued M4's (Of witch I have carried, shot and cleaned MANY) appears to be more brushed aluminum looking versus chrome plated steel looking and definitely lighter. No problems mind you, just wondering what the difference is? (Considering ordering a "Colt" firing pin from Brownells, but they are backordered)
