That sounds interesting. I had hopes to shoot some longer distances, I know longer is subjective, when I assembled a 308 but I just haven’t found a place to do it yet. It is rather efficient on deer

This is precisely why my AR10 build got as far as a receiver set and upper/lower parts kits. Realized it was gonna cost quite a bit to finish and I don’t really have any ranges longer than 125 yards around here.

They are trying to raise funds to build a public range on state forest land out to 400 yards with permanently installed steel targets. If it happens finishing the AR10 will jump up my priority list.

There are trade offs. I’m sure there are some long ranges here in fact I know of a couple but they’re private. We have mountains and trees and the ocean is only about 3 hours away. We all kinda deal with what we have

Most definitely. We're headed up to Montana next summer to look at areas to potentially move to. There isn't anything close to the range I belong to here in AZ up there. I'll have to either buy a ton of land, make friends with a shooter who has a lot of land, or find a solid public land spot to stretch out the rifles beyond 1000 yards.

I recently snagged a Sig 365XL (not easy in CA), and last month, I picked up the Sig P320CA model (we take what we can get), a Winchester .357 Mag Lever action, and various ammo to go with them.

I just sent off the order form to get a CMP 1911 and am considering completing my AERO M5 .308 build.

Also, I should have my FFL-03 C&R here soon.

Just got the June 1902 Winchester Catalog this rifle likely would have been ordered from. Cool to see the factory custom ordered options. Take-down… Musket butt-plate… “Extra Light Weight” version (26” 1/2 octagon barrel…4 round magazine) Lyman rear sight was a $3.50 factory option that could be ordered along with the $.80 “Sporting” rear buckhorn and $.30 front sight. According to the catalog, it was a $33.00 rifle with over $5.00 in options! IMG_9982.jpg

Beautiful rifle! I’ve always wanted a SRC. If you add a piece of oiled leather shoelace to the ring, it will quiet it down and keep it from wearing the finish off the receiver. Plus it looks cool. I picked this 1968 up at a pawnshop a few years ago looking rough with a huge 1970s Tasco 3x9 on it for $250. It cleaned up nicely. IMG_9984.jpg Deals are still out there.

Close to it. But i had a different trigger, longer 24" barrel and od green 17" chassis. I was able to use 20% off so ended up a little more than complete rifle, but I got exactly how I wanted it.

This one is for long range shooting only. I don't hunt. I am lucky to have a range near by that has 1000 yard bay.

I bought these grips that are full size instead of slim and surprisingly way more comfortable. 20231020_070249.jpg
