Depends on the stupidity of your peers. A prosecutor can just as easily say you hand loaded ammunition that was "extra lethal" which led to a death instead of an injury. They can also say you purchasing hollow points is doing the exact same thing, or that your 230 grain round ball is more lethal than 185 grain round ball, and so you were blood thirsty.

Makes no damn difference with ammo, when in doubt, carry what your local LEO carries. Then you are no more or less questionable than your local department.

Heard many times that modified weapons used in defensive situations that end up in court system are bad, and that you shouldn't modify any gun to be more effective since in turn it can be judged as "more lethal" and "efficient as an instrument of death, not defense." Same situation there. Obviously, having "GRIM REAPER" engraved into the slide of your defense sidearm isn't so great to do, but any prosecutor can pick apart any modifications, ammo use, and firearm platform. That's what they're paid to do.

My advice is use what you're comfortable with, pray you don't need to employ it, and should you find yourself walking away from a dangerous situation involving a fatality, then the hardest part is over - staying alive. Protect yourself first, let the questions be asked and answered later. If you're lawful in your response to the threat and don't carry on like you're a cowboy afterwards then the likelihood of you being tossed in prison for life isn't particularly high.

Yeah, I hear shit many times too but that doesn't make it any more true. That doesn't seem to keep people from parroting shit they hear enough to eventually make it 'fact' to anyone who will listen.

No. I mean kill. That's the most effective way of stopping a threat. ;)

Sure doesn't. If you acted responsibly and within reasonable action per the threat you faced, bring it on. I'd rather be alive and questioned in court than dead.

Massad Ayoob always blows his load about your choice of everything related to your gun being used against you in court. He's a bloated twat.
