Today marks the one year anniversary of when I applied for my concealed carry weapon permit because I foolishly thought that a Supreme Court decision carried some weight in the state of cancer. The sheriffs department has just decided that they are too busy and too swamped with applications to process them in a timely fashion and has decided to also stop answering phone calls and emails. I’m guessing the only way at this point to enforce shall issue is another lawsuit because that’s apparently the only way anything gets done around here, but even if the lawsuit were to succeed, they would just appeal it like they do with everything else.

 

Here in orange county, ca the current stated wait is 10mo and they have always issued permits here just for reference.

Now last year before sb2 kicked in it was down to 4ish months at one point.

As of today yes. So have many others who applied around the same time I did.

The laws are quite strict - getting more so every day it seems....

 

I know, that sucks. It really depends on the country you reside in and who the sheriff of the county is. Most of the counties in Northern California are pretty good. Easy with short waits. The northern more rural counties are especially good about granting ccw permits. You unfortunately are in the Bay Area and all of the counties there suck as far as granting ccw. I lived in the Bay Area most of my life and finally got the hell out of there and went north and east in California. Best decision I ever made. The Bay Area is major high crime, way too crowded and congested, way way expensive, stressful, quality of life sucks, and the list goes on and on. Oh yeh I got my ccw. Interviewed with the sheriff, took the class, saw the sheriff a second time , got my ccw , total time about 6 weeks.

 

You guys are gonna hate me. Took 2 weeks to get my original CCW in NC and every time I renew it takes 10 days including weekends. Now my CT non- resident permit took 5 months, I gave up and one day it showed up in the mail. Every time I renew it takes 2-3 months. CT is sooo slooow. They are supposed to give you and answer in a certain amount of time but that's thrown out, and your at their mercy.

 

I go to the south all the time, and most of the states are constitutional carry. Back when I lived in Colorado, I think it took me less than two weeks to get my permit, and they were super chill about it. I don’t know how they are these days.

 

Nope and never will. CO is the only other place I've called home

 

I don't know much about constitutional carry as different States have different rules about it if I'm correct. If no then I can learn something. I do know that NC is not constitutional carry and TN is but you can't come from TN to NC and carry without a permit. What ever States you go to you gotta know the rules. Like FL has no open carry but constitutional carry. It's crazy!

 

It used to take less than a week to get CC permit in Georgia, And now you don’t have to have one at all.

Same in Mo, open and conceal carry are legal without a permit.

I just got back from a trip to Santa Clara today.
