I'm looking at picking up a Plinking Gun at Sportsman's. Ruger 10/22 semi auto synthetic stock with a Tru Glo Red Dot included, $309.00
Looks like there is not a front bead sight. Should I consider another Ruger with the front bead sight to give me an option to shoot if I want to remove
    the Red Dot?
This would be Long gun #4 for me, (AR-15, Lever Action Rifle, Bolt Action)

My favorite is still my standard carbine with a Leupold 3-9x. I don’t think there’s a bad one in the lineup, but if you think you want iron sights, it limits your options.

If you think you might like to have the regular sights you ought to get one with them. Getting what you want is the important part.

Don't rule out the Winchester Wildcat as an option. I've been really happy with mine as a grab & go plinker. Takes 10/22 mags & light as a feather. Action drops out in seconds for easy cleaning. Comes with a peep site & a pic rail. As accurate as the shooter is for plinking. I slapped a Bushnell TR-25 on mine and it's the one I throw in the SXS when I head to the woods. Should still be had for $250-75ish even adding the dot. Check it out.

I have an early 1960s Model 60. I wanted a brand new one to go with it. The first one didn’t have enough sight adjustment to get on target. The replacement they sent couldn’t get through a magazine without jamming. They had really dropped the ball on quality near the end. I’m hoping Ruger brings them back from the dead, but right now they aren’t being made.

Great rifles when you get a good one. Really accurate, with a great feel. Reminds me to get mine out!

I'm a bit of a 10/22 nerd. When you deep dive into the 10/22 world, the comments from true gunsmith's are, the factory barrels without sights are not the most accurate in the product line. They are great for tin can plinking and minute of squirrel. I would look for the least expensive model with front and rear sights (blue or stainless) and add the red dot later after spending time with the rifle. Warning: the 10/22 can be addictive and there are as many aftermarket "upgrades" than in the AR world. Have fun.

I have the 16” barell with no sights and perhaps I got lucky but it’ll shoot 1 1.2-2” groups at 100 yards all day and I’m not the Lords gift to tha trigger
