Yea they are pretty thin. Not much filling. I wouldn't use it to pick up a really hot pan that was in the oven.

Well I didn't buy any of these but I did have an uncle pass and he left me some stuff. He was SF in Vietnam and loved guns. He was probably all of 140 lbs and 5'6 but one of the toughest men I knew and feared nothing. He will be missed. Some of these guns I actually found and bought for him. We had to search all over his house for these even though he had a safe only half his guns where in it.

It's almost eery how similar your story about him sounds compared to my best friends father who passed last year

Army Ranger in Vietnam...had a safe...half his stuff was hidden throughout the house...a stupid amount of guns ammo and other related stuff...me and my buddy both helped him locate many of them...many are also now in my safe

lol, yup that basically sums it up. Also just so many redundant things. Probably found the equivalent to 20 pieced together cleaning kits for various guns. 2 sets of sai's (3 pronged weapons) so many hatchets and blades. Just soooooo muchs stuff. The osama bin laden/ sadam hussein russian nesting doll set made me laugh though. Lots of little randomness like that everywhere

This did give me a glimpse into the future of what my son and daughter will experience haha. Hopefully I'll leave things a little more organized though.

Bs laws just changed here in Michigan. Need a purchase permit that you apply for at the local police station, then get a form notarized, then you pick up your purchase permit after 3 days and a background check, then you can go purchase your gun.

My wife's uncle passed about 2 years ago, we had already been helping go through the hoard. We loaded a whole trailer full of firearms, ammo, reloading supplies.

Problem was, he didn't leave a will. Instead of people getting what he had wanted them to , most of it was auctioned off. Dam shame

I see this all the time, or someone comes by and writes a check for pennies on the dollar to take everything. Family members turn them in because they dont want them, etc...

Get it in your will, spell things out.

I had some broken receivers that I turned into a buyback because they actually pay you money for a destroyed gun, and there were people handing in a few Wilson Combats that looked like they sold easily north of $6000 when new. I wonder if the LEOs keep those for themselves?

You do? I don't. I saw at least 4 uzis in a photo of one of the last busts. I know they aren't getting sawed in half.

Larger metropolitan departments they are destroyed unfortunately. If someone there is a gun guy they will try to get it for the armory but its not worth it to try and snag for yourself even if you are just trying to save a rare gun. The guns are escorted to the foundry/crushing facility, if they do disappear its usually the people contracted to destroy the guns that snake them which is also illegal.

There are multiple eyes watching what gets checked in to make sure they get destroyed.

Most ive seen is some of the guys will try to explain how much something is worth and suggest a dealer to help sell it.
