Nothing wrong with that, especially in their mid range offerings. Leupold is not what they used to be..

Granted I haven’t used any of their high end stuff, every vortex I have doesn’t compare at low light to a leupold. Love them as much in daylight but at dusk, they get darker much quicker from my experience

These days leupolds tend to track erratically and give up far too easy. Glass isn’t everything.
I’d not waste my time on the bottom or top models of Vortex, but there’s a lot of value in the middle.

I’d also buy Vortex binos over my Leupold BX4s if I had it to do over.

Idk about just these days. The mark 4 fixed 10 issued way back in the day suffered from a shitty erector that caused either complete failure, or significant poor tracking.

The mark 5 has been a big improvement. However, durability is still up for debate and it only took 20 years to make the update.

Scopes are telescopic sights first and foremost. Glass is less important than mechanical function.

If you need an observation device, get a good set of binos, or the most expensive spotter you can afford.

if you want good tracking, travel, paralax adjustment and durability, ffp etc you’ll have to research scope brands/model reputation but usually the price of admission is past $1000 for solid tracking and durability.

I've been running a burris ph that I'm pleased with. I like certain leupold models and have a vx5 but the limited reticle options keep me away for the most part.

I haven’t had a newer/higher end leap old to take home but from what I recall working at the gun shop I didn’t notice a big difference between the viper and more expensive lines of vortex vs the leupolds.
I know the viper HS-T and Viper gen 2 scopes that I have are light years better than the Nikon buckmaster scopes that I grew up with. I remember my dad telling me “you don’t ever need to spend more than $200 on a scope” and then when I bought my first “nice” scope (vortex viper HS-T 4-16x44) in 2015 he was blown away by how well he could see in the evening.

Razor gen 3 at 3.5 miles to the tower not full zoom
FWIW I also have a viper pst gen 2 often referred to as the just as good optic. Glass quality between it and the Razor isn't even in the same state razor hands down is a much nicer optic in all aspects as it should be for the price difference
I will say the Viper PST is slightly better than my Athlon Aeres that was around the same price

I just put in an order for the cheapest RF scope in the Natchez shooters offering. And it was on sale!
My wife, (not a very large person) is angry with the squirrels getting into the plum trees.
I set her up with the Crosman 760 pellet rifle, as no other option fit her "length of pull".
She needs all the help finding target that modern tech. has to offer

    so...Simmons 2X8 it is ;-)

$4700 for a scope? :cookiemonster: (thats my reaction, not pointed at you) For that price point it better be that clear at 3.5 miles. Hell, it better massage my giblets as I take the shot for that amount of money

Im not in a place in my life where I can shell out that kind of dough

The razor gen 3 was the one that was $4700 when I googled it. I’ve got a viper at home that I love in the daylight

This! No one pays MSRP for Vortex,,, or hopefully they don't.
As an alternative; the Gen 2 Viper is a steal right now, you can buy used for about $1,500. I have both, and prefer the Gen 3, but may pick up another used Gen 2.

Yeah was like $2100 or something close to that for the gen 3. Got it from a long time sniper hide vendor before he screwed over a lot of people sadly

Was well worth the extra 1200 or so than I paid for my athlon.
