I'm pretty sure the edge and angel are drop in. They'll never eliminate the "bump". In order to do that you need to get a trim to fit connector like the evo elite. I prefer not to lighten my trigger pull, it's not necessary once the bump is gone. And make sure you fit the evo elite with the spring setup you plan on using forever. If you try to reduce trigger pull afterwards trigger wont work. Ask me how I know....

I'm looking for a useful range finder. Laser or other wise.

Less than $200, but not interested in chicom crap.

    Recommendations?

Haven't had mine out for so long, I forgot what it is. It was around $150 IIRC, and is good to 600. Accurate compared to physically measured distance out to 500. You should be able to find something decent within your budget.

Most civilian accessible commercially available rangefinders are made in China. Might look at Leica. They are not made in Germany but I think some were made in Portugal. Something like the Zeiss rangefinding binos are allegedly made in Germany. I don’t know if ALL the components come from there.

    Vectronics is Switzerland.

Most of the others like sig, leupold, vortex and so forth have either parts or were entirely made in China.

I don't get the 'made in china' hate at this point. Your iPhone was made there too and that's the most complex piece of equipment most of us own. It isn't the 90s anymore. China has one of the most advanced manufacturing sectors you'll find anywhere in the world.

It's like bitching about Chinese steel when they're responsible for producing more than every other country in the world combined.

Because the IP is bad? Or is it the manufacturing processes themselves? Anyone can make a shit product. You've never gotten anything made in the USA that didn't meet expectations?

Sure I have, but not at the rate that cheaply made Chinese produced products fail.

-The private IP is stolen almost always.

-It’s almost certainly built on child slave labor. There’s no way to verify which manufactures do or don’t.

-China is a geopolitical enemy of the US.

-Apple has been pressured to move iphones manufacturing. It might be going to India soon. Just because it’s made there doesn’t mean it’s a good thing. That’s horrible logic.

-US made tools are almost always made better than non US tools.

Made in China is not a problem, just not CRAP ..
Sorry if that came across incorrectly. Thanks for the suggestions.

If a person doesn’t specify the type of needs for a rangefinder then I default to suggesting vortex. Vortex is one of the few brands that lifetime warranty with no questions asked on electronics.

Basically you’ll have a rangefinder for life as long as the company is still going. Are they good rangefinders? Meh. They’re ok. They have a few models to choose from.

I would take the max distance you plan to use one and double or triple it, then look for that model. That will help pick up non reflective targets better. There’s other things to look for like beam divergence and such but I suppose that’s beyond this conversation.

less than $200 and useful are going to be almost mutually exclusive without even going into not made in china.

If you can compromise on the made in china part, the sig ones work well and most will connect to a kestrel. I had mine for 8 years and it always worked well, ranged out to 1k yds. Anything not made in china is going to be over $1k.

Only reason I stopped using it was I upgraded to a vectronix.

Im talking about companies who use their own IP but manufacture in China. I'll ignore your other comments.

So Leupold, Vortex, others are all operating on stolen IP?

No. They aren’t Chinese companies. China steals IP from companies that sends the work there. The CCP has an interest in it.

There use to be so many mk4 knock offs in circulation, they had to put out a PSA on how to tell if it was real. Not that the real one was that much better.

That said, Leupold is it’s own mess and at the center of a series of patent infringements litigations, suing Nightforce and being sued by Bushnell. They had a case against US Optics thrown out as well. I’m sure there’s been other cases. So there’s that. But it’s so much more than shitty tier nothing scopes. Link
