Dang man. I'd like to hear your thoughts on the tavor after a few hundred rounds. I think if it came with a good trigger I could justify it, but right now I can't hide a $1500 rifle and a $400 trigger in the margins of the expense account, lol.

There is two types. The shroud which is ghetto and covers the mag release and the Raddlock which replaces the little part above the mag and below the left hand ejection port that you pry with a tool and it renders the mag release inoperable.

Ah, nice. I was just asking about the Tavor a couple days ago on the thread. It was the first I had taken the time to break one down and check it out.
I was impressed with the ease of breakdown. But, like you already know, the trigger was terrible. Nice pick btw.
I ended up purchasing the 556xi but, am trying to talk myself into the Tavor and may pick one up on Monday as my local shop had 5 left in stock.
With the 1:7 I would be interested in the loads you are using and results at 100 yds.

Anyway looks great and I would guess we will be seeing these and other Bull Pup style weapons gain more popularity.

Yeah I'll give you a feedback once I take it out. Just got it out of jail. At first I was like hmm $1800 for a Tavor with bad trigger, same caliber as my AR and do I want another one with same caliber? I can build a cheap ar for 1/4 of the price of a Tavor but this is piston driven. Any piston AR will cost about this much so I said why they heck. I'll bite and did. The Steyr Aug was made in the 60's and the design still is so timeless. Not sure if it's just bullpup design but I messed with one at my FFL when he was just getting the Tavor and fell in love with it. Just wasn't in my price range on something I really wanted but I shot his and couldn't stop the urge to get one and he got one in and gave me the option to jump at his cost or get SSE pistols. So I had to tap into my savings but I got one. I'm excited to add it to my collection.

Yep, we will have to compare notes as I think I have to have one.
BP's are historically built with fucked off triggers. So it is no surprise. I think Matt was telling me his personal tripped the weight above 12 before he shitcanned his. He is satisfied and is running 55 grain but, thinks his groups will improve with some lighter hand loads.

    But...but...that bolt release

Agree. And yeah people were getting 11lbs on stock trigger about 8 after 1 spring was removed and the Timney is like 4.5. I'll have to try stock, stock without the other spring and Timney and see how the group is. I have 55g and 62g and if I can get some higher grain, I'll try those too.

Not meant to be a "bench" gun, I get that some will argue that the triggers are fine and not meant to be AR. In fac,t it is a beaten to death topic "out there" but, I prefer my triggers to at least be within "x" for a bit of constancy.
    Anyway... :jellydance:

Bought a couple weeks ago. Despite its visual shortcomings, nice shooter. Better trigger than many $500+ pistols I've fired. Could not pass it up at $299. Also got a rebate for an extra mag, poly holster, and mag pouch.
