I've been seriously considering getting one in .243. Don't need it, and am not sure what I would do with it, but it sure would be a lot of fun.

You will have to look for a GEN1, because they discontinued the .243 in the 2nd generation RPRs

Yeah. There are still several NIB on gunbroker at a good price. I'd rather have a 6mm creedmoor as it would make more sense with the OAL of the magazine, but the .243 will do.

What is the comparison of the 6.5? I havent looked at the ballistics...I stick with rounds .223, .270, 308 etc.

Wow, where do I start with that question. Without going into great detail, basically he just has a much more predictable, repeatable flight path then the 308. Although the 308 is slightly heavier of a round, the 6.5 just behaves better. Mr. Creedmoor really did set out to create the best ballistic characteristics of a short action round possible.

Ive seen a couple hunting shows where they were shooting one. The last show this guy jumped a nice whitetail buck and it dropped not 10yds from where he shot it...I was just curious.

And with good reason! When you do your homework like I did, you'll see why I went with 6.5. It really is an awesome round, and it hits like a mother for being a little lighter than the .308. @200 yards, it is still carrying over 200 foot pounds of energy

Don't get me wrong, the 308 definitely serves its purpose and it definitely delivers punching power BUT, The 6.5 is just today's technology at its finest, both design characteristics and The powder uses

Heck, they're the same price as 22-250s, and sometimes even lower. That's pretty damn good for match grade ammo

Yeah price is not the issue its my storage as I have about 100K rounds in ammo right now in my current calibers 22/38/357/44/9mm/40mm/223/308 taking up current space

The advantage is not necessarily that distance but the improved repeatable accuracy inside of that distance like 600 or 700 or 800 yards type environment

Puts me to shame. I've only got around 20k between my calibers/gauges, and I've got even more variety than you do!
    22lr & shorts, 380, 9mm, 38/357, 45acp, 30-06, 30-30, 32spl, .35Rem, 223/5.56, 7mm Rem Mag, 7.62X54R, 12 & 20ga

I feel like such an underachiever. :pout:
