Just picked up this one in a .357. I'm 5'6" and it fits me perfectly.

That Henry 357 is a good match for this Coonan that I bought at the end of last year.

Nice. I've got a soft spot for a pistol-caliber lever action. Probably because of all the time I spent playing cowboys & indians and hunting 'buffalo' as a kid with my cap guns as a kid.

Going on a limb here, but my guess is... Springfield M1A Socom 16 in .308win.

I prefer the 18.5" bbl on my M14s, but I can understand the allure of the 16".

    Springfield M1A Scout. .308

Its father was the M1 Grand my grandfather used in WW2. Military is currently using this in the M-14 platform. A lot of great history. Wanted something different than my M4/AR.

    It’s the Scout. 18in.

16in was tempting though. Don’t need any CQB qualities though.

Good call. You will have better accuricy, and far fewer cycling issues. The 16" are finicky... and lol @ cqb.

Does that hand guard firmly clamp to the barrel? That's an iffy location for an optic in my opinion. I run a ARMS 18 mount with an Aimpoint ML4 over the action, and NM sights when i feel like using irons.

Sold my AR15 to a cop buddy. Going through their DROS so I don’t have to dumb it up. High end rifle someone else needed more than me. Never did it for me, I’m a bolt guy. I will buy something w/ the money. Maybe something I don’t have- something cool in 30-06.

Did a lot of research and plenty are stoked on the 18 rather than the 16. I’ve read the optic mount is solid but I plan on slowly upgrading the stock and mounts. Unfortunately the M1A mods are not cheap. ;) But I love this rifle and plan on having it for a long time.

I've read that you need to rack it like a Gorilla on roids unless you go through and polish the mag tubes and chamber. And run high-brass shells. Apparently the tolerances are so tight that low-brass shells have a tendency to hang up on the parkerizing.
