Well, then go vintage. I've got a Marlin 81 that I picked up for a song (right around $100) that'll shoot short, long, or long rifle equally well, and is an accurate little mofo even with the 50 year old optic it came with.

    Edit:
It's basically this, but with a 4x Tasco on top that means you can't use the irons.

    15441d1418679012-budget-22lr-tack-drivin_e39bfe9d70d76588f5f5449f0ab91846089ada2a.jpg

Currently I've got it loaded with subsonic 22 long's and use it as my squirrel gun for around the house, to keep from pissing the neighbors off.

But it shoots quite nicely, which comes in handy when you've got a squirrel who only wants to show you his nose and an eyeball around a tree trunk, or if you're winter camping and need to pluck some dry kindling from a tall fir

My brother in law found his/my wife's grandfather's Marlin 81 in th back of a garage.

Brought it home and cleaned it up. Forgot how good these are.

For sure, they're great little plinkers. Not 'match grade' accurate, obviously, but neither am I.
I think they were sold through Sears as a JC Higgins for a while, too.

Yeah I was leaning towards an Arsenal AK but in my area they are not sitting on the gun store shelves, wifey said go buy a gun and I came back with the saint. Still buying an AK at some point to for fun but I didnt know anything about the AR platform when I bought this one, its been a great shooter though

I love my XT-22Z (threaded barrel, mag fed), the only issue I've had was my bipod pulled the composite sling mount out, I replaced it with a metal stud and it's solid now, great suppressor host.

Well picked it up Saturday, but first chance to post.

    20180602_154900 (1).jpg

It's a 6.5 Grendal, 18" barrel. Topped by a Steiner 5x25. Now to find a good handload for it.

I’ve got about 5K rounds of 9mm and I’m going to do a 1K round range day, just to see if I can break it. This gun has been getting a lot of heat lately and it should.

Nice what barrel did you use? mine has an Odin Works, first time out with it shot horrible with Hornady Black and Fed Premium. Thought I had something wrong as both were 1.5 MOA - 2 MOA. Luckily I had a box of Hornady SST's and they were 1/2 MOA. Only has 60 rounds through it so will see if the Black shots better with some more rounds through it as I bought 500 of them..... :frusty:
