If you're savvy with your lengths, you can put a vfg on a firearm over 26" length but under 16" barrel because it isn't concealable and isn't a rifle. NFA regs are weird.

Edit for clarity: it can never have had a stock in this configuration. Generally speaking, if it had/has a stock it's a rifle or sbr, barring a few weird exemptions.

Yeah about 8 yr's ago I was pulled over and told them I had a pistol in my car and he ask if I had a CCW and I said no that I didn't need one since I knew the law about it, I was kinda a smart ass to the police and he said since I knew so much about the law that I should have had proof of ownership with me and took my gun to prove a point lol had to take proof to the police station to get it back ..
A little after that I went out and got my CCW and now I'm very polite to them, since than they have never really ask about proof when pulled over (I kinda push the speed limit),.
Never been a smart ass to them since that time on anything!
I think everyone should get or have a CCW just for the knowledge you learn in class what you can and cant do when you have a weapon with you ..

It's probably got a 16" barrel, and is over 26" overall length. That's just a rifle.

Since it’s a bull pup configuration you have a 16” barrel so you’re all good

I’ve got an MSAR E4 and it’s the same setup.

For anybody interested in the vagaries of NFA law, this site does a good job with explaining the legalities of various situations.

    http://www.texasnfatrust.com/nfa-flow-chart.html

Some of the info is outdated(like the legality of shouldering a pistol brace) but it's a good primer

That blows and being a smart ass is very tempting, but ill advised. :anonymous:

With that said, I think he was full of crap on the proof of ownership law, but good luck arguing your point. I looked for any reference to that law, since I may end up traveling through your state next year. I couldn’t find anything that referenced what the officer claimed. :notsure:

With that said, all my CC weapons have been bought through an FFL. Should I ever have to use it, I don’t need any other legal issues that will be coming my way.

I agree, it’s far easier and cheaper to comply, then plead your case in a safer forum.

    Thanks!

Just mainly my opinion. Dealing with the ATF, wasted 200, plus dollars, not being able to transport them out of state, even though I’m sure this isn’t a big deal for most, but for me, I travel a lot for work. How do you pass the rifle along to someone else, when that time comes? I know you can have a Trust set up with multiple people, but then again there is more paperwork and money.

Lukas from T Rex Arms discusses this in multiple videos and he goes with the brace route to easily travel between states. He also runs VFG on anything over 26".

Braces are the way to go with items like the tailhook where your really don’t give much up

I run an SB Brace on my 10.5” 300BLK and like it. My other AR is 13.7” a with pinned flash hider, so a standard adjustable stock is installed.

My go to is a 14.7 pinned but I like the pistol options a lot. Zenith sp5k, ar 15 and mp40 (no brace) pistols so far with a g36k on the way. They are mostly just for fun especially with s binary trigger

Folding SB brace on my newest firearm. If I do an AR pistol there are some adjustable braces out there. I think SB has one? Tailhook has one for sure.

Got the paddle kit a few weeks ago, but got it welded up yesterday. It should be fun to have my own shooting tree.
