Stopped by my LGS and grabbed a box (limit 1 per customer). Paid more than I wanted and I don't really need it, but sticking with my process of buying some here and there to keep the stock plentiful.

It's been a long time since I purchased a gun at Academy, but I filled out the 4473 form but no check was done b/c I had my carry permit. This was over 5 years ago. Their policy may have changed.

I bought a couple there last year and had to wait for the NICS to come back before I could leave with the guns. Maybe I'm just (un)lucky. I mean, the gun I bought at Academy in SC was a Sig 556R. It had to go back to Sig three times and still never made it through a 20 rd mag without at least two FTF. Worst $1200 I ever spent, and the primary reason I will never touch another US manufactured Sig firearm. No issues with their German made pistols or Chinese optics though...

In Georgia your GWCL can be used in place of the background check since the process to get the license and requirements to keep it exceed the scope of the NICS check.

I don't buy guns from stores very often. Most of my stuff is from private sales but I've had my Carry Permit since I was 21 and don't think I've ever even had the NICS check run on me before b/c of the permit.

Must be nice. I've had my Florida permit for a little over 25 years and had my SC permit for almost 3 (moved up there July 2010 and back to Florida early 2013) and have never NOT had a NICS check done on FFL purchases. Didn't matter if it was a big box store or LGS where the owner has known me for 20+ years.

I need to get my permit to skirt the nice check because my last 3 purchases I’ve been delayed, it’s really frustrating. Last delay the manager told me that since he knew me if it was delayed past 7 business days I could pick it up. It’s legal per the ATF but most shops don’t want the shame of going to the PD or SO and saying “hey look, we let this guy have a firearm when he was delayed and he finally came back as denied”.

Sweet. That's what I'd get (or the 212 12 gauge version) if I were going to hunt a lot with slugs.

Bought this “case club” box on Amazon, spent a few minutes playing with the set up. Settled on this.

Yes, I was pleasantly surprised. There were only about a dozen boxes on the shelf after I grabbed the 5.

One of favorite rounds, especially fired through my full-sized Smith & Wesson M2.0. I find that the NATO spec is a little more potent than standard FMJ. Not as "hot" as +P, but noticeably more powerful than typical FMJ.
