Getting my intermediate steering shaft replaced tomorrow. It should be easier to steer when I pick it up.

I saw a couple posts about it being garbage, I've had mine installed for 6 months and have had zero issues so I'm assuming it's more of a user issue than the actual product.

Awesome! Worst case scenario you get the scoche surround down the line and swap it out but I would definitely wait.

Just be patient when you tuck all the wiring back in the dash before bolting in the radio. If you have any hick-ups feel free to pm me

Thanks! I've installed quite a few stereos before but its been about 5 years haha. Looking forward to fighting with the iDatalink. I hear its not as straightforward as it claims to be.

Comparatively speaking the Metra is garbage. I think the Scosche puts it at a slightly different angle as well.

Well if its trash at least it's only 20 bucks down the drain. I just went with what Crutchfield recommended. Not too worried about the angle though, the Kenwood I got has adjustable screen angles :)

The only issue I ran into during the install was splicing the wire from the head unit that is responsible for reading whether or not the parking brake was engaged. After splicing it, I still couldn't get the videos to play.. After a little research I saw theres a bypass you can buy for $10 to resolve that issue. That was for the head unit though I had no issues with the idatalink.

My only complaint is that half the time my steering wheel controls don't work except for the left and right buttons on the directional pad, that could be my fault though. It was my first stereo install and overall went smooth

Gotcha. Luckily to bypass the parking break on a Kenwood deck you just ground it out. Should be pretty easy. The steering wheel thing would annoy me but I guess we'll just wait and see. Won't know till it gets in the dash!

I have the dnx696s recently installed. Couple tips for install. A real long screwdriver to Shove the harnessing up while you slide the hu in is very helpful. For GPS antenna, I just stuck it on the underside of the dash above the vents. Works fine. I was pretty bummed when I found you couldn’t use factory antennas. In regards to idatalink, just carefully follow instructions and you’ll be good.

Ooh yea I do not like the ribbed texture. Luckily mine is flat black. Seems easy enough to swap out if the Metra is just total garbage. I like seeing the side by side comparison pics though, thanks!

I just installed the JVC kw-v85bt with Maestro and got the Metra kit with it. It sucks. I spent a good hour and a half trying to get everything lined up right. It still isn’t. The mounting brackets are cheap flimsy and plastic. Any pressure on them moves them. So your HU won’t sit straight. I’m ordering the other kit.

I did t do a write up. I want to but am not sure I’ll have time. However I used the maestro unit and the TO1 harness. If you have any questions I’d be happy to help just shoot me a message on here
