    Messed up bad today....
Started doing the first oil change on the pickup since I got it and, like an idiot, drained THE WRONG PAN! When red tranny fluid started gushing out, I knew I messed up, but I dropped the plug and had a tough time getting it before it drained ALOT. I thought I could just go buy some more tranny fluid and put it in, until I realized that the tranny is sealed.

When all was said and done I had to arrange for a TOW TRUCK to TOW the taco to the effing dealership to charge me $100 to pump 3.2 liters of fluid back into the tranny...

I can't believe how stupid I am. I'm pretty mechanically inclined and normally don't make mistakes like this, but today I sure did. So for all you other backyard mechanics with a new-to-you Tacoma, the oil pan is IN FRONT of the IFS crossmember.

Let the jokes fly, I deserve it.

Put one of these into the rear view window slot so no one can open the window..... it's just a simple door latch bar that I put a piece of rubber at the end that hits the window if it were to be open.... fits perfectly in the window slot..... lets the rear window slide open about 3 inches

Tranny has a fill plug similar to the front diff and transfer case. In hindsight you should've measured the fluid you drained and simply pump in the same volume of new fluid with a hand pump.

Drove my truck for 30 miles in the most unforgiving environment of all - the manmade one. Tortured the engine in stop-and-go traffic. :D

You're going to want to expose that mic more than just the surface. The vents on the body are used for noise cancelling so you may have more background noise than you like with it mounted like that. Looks good though and great work. That's how I like to do mods myself... the more they look OEM and don't stand out the better.

That's the best looking install I've seen. Clean. Out of sight unless you need it.
I had a screw extracted from one of mine today at Discount Tire. While I was waiting I saw the service writer out in the lot checking my tread depth so I walked out and asked him what they were at. 13/32. Asked him what they were new, and he says 17/32. Not bad for 18,000 miles, if that's right. Love em so far.
