I did my steps with Herculiner. It's peeling off in some places, falling off in other places, and I really wish I would have went with Raptor instead. A friend of mine has Raptor liner and it's a lot tougher.

Same here. And that’s going by the dipstick. 5 quarts leaves me a half quart shy.

Having painted a few vehicles, the Raptor liner seems to hold up better. I just got done painting my buddies Corolla with Raptor and it looks great.

Next project is building a paint booth, then painting a trailer followed by a 4runner

This was just the aerosol can, I didn’t feel like paying $110 for the big kit. $15 for 1 aerosol can done both steps. We’ll see how it holds up.

    Finally finished up adding these...

    IMG_20200906_125851240_HDR.jpg IMG_20200906_125919799_HDR.jpg

Now, an experienced eye might notice something a bit... off with one of them. The one on the driver side is a bit further out than the other. Not sure exactly how I fouled it up, but I managed to drill the holes a little too close to the outside. I finished up the first one, went to check the fit, and had a rather sick feeling when I found out it wouldn't close right... followed shortly by a sicker feeling when the hood slipped out of my hands, slammed shut, and did not want to reopen. After a moment of panic, I made a call to the folks at Redline who made a few suggestions (and also offered to send some new rivets in case I ended up needing to drill out the installed ones). Suffice it to say that I was able to get the hood back open - everything was intact, but the slam had managed to bend things a little. Needless to say, this was a bit offputting, so I shelved the rest of the install for a bit while I figured out how to proceed.

That brings us to today... had good weather and no real plans, so I finally went to finish up. Everything was still solid on the misaligned one, so instead of risking weakening things by drilling out the rivets, making more holes in the hood frame and reinstalling, I opted to leave it in place. With the lessons from the first one, the passenger side one went perfectly smoothly. With both of them now installed, I checked how the driver side was sitting - still set how it had been, just slightly bent from the slam. In order to help solidify it, I got out some JB Weld SteelStick, kneaded up a bit, and used that to fill and support the space under the bracket. Everything lines up, it supports the hood, and it opens and closes just fine, so finally a happy ending to the story.

The moral of our story is an oldie but a goodie. Always make sure to read instructions carefully, and measure multiple times to be sure before you start drilling.

Got my Mobtown Offroad hybrid front bumper primered and 2 topcoats on the backside. Gonna let it sit overnight and then flip it over and topcoat the front side tomorrow. Also started on a small audio upgrade. Was going to install the amp and inline converter under the front driver's seat, but the storage compartment on the passenger side seemed like a better idea, I still need to pull everything back out and cut a few more holes to run wiring, but that probably won't happen for another week or 2.

I like it. What is the PN for that key/fob, and where did you get it?

How much was it to get it programmed?
