I would recommend getting t tap connectors to tap into the harness. Much easier IMO.

Did a couple of small upgrades/maintenance items over the Christmas break.

Rear diff breather relocate. Was pretty easy, just some 1/4" fuel line, a threaded to slip-on union, and a new breather. I learned that the Toyota breather is just a spring loaded, crimped "bucket" over a tube, which is interesting--I originally thought that there would be some sort of filter media in there, but no dice. I might install an inline filter at some point too, but it's probably overkill.

    PXL_20201224_235112354.MP.jpg

Tucked up the new breather inside the frame rail out of the way of anything that would splash up while wheeling. I cut the hose extra long incase I wanted to route it up to the gas filler area eventually (or elsewhere).
    PXL_20201224_235127106.MP.jpg

I disassembled the stock breather out of curiosity (missing in the picture is a small plastic disk/valve "door" that the spring acts against; it popped out and I rolled under my bench, couldn't be bothered to find it):
    PXL_20201224_235000439.MP.jpg

Next, I extended the A/C drip line to below the frame. Just took some 5/8" fuel line and slipped it over the existing tube and secured in various places with zip ties. No more A/C condensation dripping on the frame!

    Exit:
    PXL_20201224_235037900.MP.jpg

Then I changed front diff, transfer case, and rear diff fluids. Used Redline 75w-90 gear oil in all three. Front diff was the nastiest, I'm guessing it hasn't been changed since it rolled off the lot back in 2015. The transfer case fluid looked brand new, and the rear diff looked pretty good too. Decent amount of metal particulate in both of the diffs.

And lastly, successfully programmed the two new keys for the Truck. Bought two "G" coded keys of Amazon and got them cut at a dealership for $5 each, and then programmed them myself. Saved ~$250 versus getting a vendor to do it.

Definitely a productive, although not that exciting, weekend!

If your happy with the load capacity and the ride of the stock leafs, I would look into a traction bar instead. I'm in the same situation as you with axle wrap. My stock leafs are bent though, so I'll be doing deavers(free) and a traction bar (2-300$ with me doing the install).

Finally modified my jb fab 4wd shifter to fit and work inside my center console (christmas gift from last year) so finally have the ability to shift inside the cab again... The small rod was for mocking up where i wanted to move the shift rod to.
Then made a mold so i could make a new lower shift boot base out of kydex and will fill in the rest with 1/16" rubber.

My list is getting shorter and shorter to getting this truck back on the road!

What's that rod/cable passing through at 11 o'clock to the shifter in the last picture? Front diff manual actuation?

Not familiar with that, similar to an "Atlas" case? Any pictures?

Yes I'm going to install a traction bar too, I already have the materials to make it, and I'm waiting for the time to build it.

Ok. Thanks. I installed my new head unit yesterday but I will have to go back in to see if I can wire it up so back up camera will appear on new HU. That would be much better than just the mirror. So did you follow the video you sent me or the link? When I watched the video it seemed that it was from a truck that already had the camera on the factory display.

So it seems nobody is able to ship shit on time anymore. I'm waiting for a ton of crap to show up but at least I was able to get out to test the gopro9. These pics were taken from a pro photographer through w/ a real camera.

First people I called after my local audio shop said they new of no way to wire it up. Crutchfield said they had no kit and no knowledge of how to get camera signal from mirror to new head unit.
