Wired up my auto dimming/temperature/compass mirror.
Calibrated the compass by driving around a little.

Attempted to install a new antenna but the nut is so corroded that I'm going to have to cut it off with a Dremel.

There’s a saying- “We do it nice cause we do it twice”. On the way to work this morning, I discovered that I wired the dash illumination to my new switches wrong. They were full brightness!! I forgot that the dimmer controls the ground for the lights (green wire w/ white stripe). I knew that already - but when you start getting old, you start forgetting things. Pisses me off.

Anyways I had to disconnect all the black wires for the CH4X4 switches from the ARB harness & wire them to the green w/ white stripe wire in the center dash. GTG now.

Removed center console. Unbolt & and lift out lower part of radio surround. Break loose lower valance below steering column. Remove metal bracket behind that. Then lower center dash can be removed. Its a lot of work.

Got the bumper on tonight. I was over thinking a way to mount the bedsides in order to prevent them from flapping and a friend came up with a great idea while we were texting about it. Left a tab from the original bedside behind and tapped it into the wing on the bumper. Very solid hold. Still have some adjusting to do and mounting of the license plate but so happy with the way it looks. Such a solid piece.

ah ok. Yea I think someone else did it. I have a 2012+ lower console to go in, but I dont want to do all of that work without replacing my radio too. I have a tech deck also haha.

The center console front and rear pieces do come out without removing any of the dash panels. The HVAC controls also just pop out and both the green and green/white wires (dash illumination +/- ) are on the plugs there. To get the stereo out you have to start at the door threshold and remove it, the dead pedal, the kick panel, the lower dash panel, and the instrument panel plus both center console pieces to remove the radio and it’s surround. Everything overlaps.

Black TRD shift knob to remove more silver/chrome. Actually a useful mod to remove that stupid glare on the windshield from the OE silver shifter. Physically smaller too so it doesn't get in the way.

Im not so worried about the hvac controls, but swapping an 09-11 lower center console with a 12-15 requires alot. I knew about the speedo surrounds, and the glove box side, but not the lower kick panel and the dead panel.

Its ok, i haven't figured out a new head unit yet, so ill be ok delaying more hah

Can you let me know how you wired this in more detail? I would also like to wire a CH4X4 switch and make it dimmable. Did you tap off another switch's power?

Ordered BAMF sliders, got the shipping confirmation for my Custom Car Grill, and got the vantop dashcam/rear view mirror kit delivered. Just waiting on the mount to make the looong trip overseas.

Any switch that dims already has the illumination wires.
Dash illumination is green for positive(hot with headlights on) and green/white for negative. You don’t want to use the dash illumination green wire for switch power, only for led+. Negative is actually a floating ground not connected to the chassis. Tacoma’s dim by varying voltage on the negative side. Al you really need to know though is the green for positive and green/white for negative. Your CH4X4 switch should have instructions color coding those switch wires along with a 12V supply wire(typically from a fuse tap on the interior fuse panel) and the wire to your accessory or wire to trigger a relay.

There are two junction blocks (J2, J3) where the power and ground side of the illumination circuit are.
I bought two terminal repair wires and used an empty slot in each to get my switches to light up.

What 3rd brake light are you using? I'll be looking to do something similar in the not to distant future.
