I'm a cheap basterd who thinks I can figure out a cheap way to do everything. It generally doesn't work out but this time I think it has. Cheap Amazon rock lights attached to mounts intended for boat steps, but they'll work and I like the way they look (they were like $6 each instead of $30+ each for the sweet scene pods from uptop). Plus if I decide to cough up the change to use the scene pods I didn't alter any part of the rack other than the intended knock out plates. The lights are bluetooth controlled and I can select the color (I really like that I can switch to red lights to maintain night vision). Now, bring on the "you get what you pay for" critique.

Front differential fluid change and swapped stock drain/fill plugs for Lexus plugs. Why Toyota, why? Also rotated tires, greased driveshaft u-joints and checked out the general crustiness of my undercarriage. Will get transfer case and rear differential fluids done this weekend.

The leads they had soldered on gave a little wiggle room and the new speakers are in roughly the same spot as the old so I just spliced those via the light/glasses trim hole.

Lexus plugs. Check out the stickies front diff and transfer case how to thread for the details. I’m on my phone right now or I’d link them here.

Technically the oem setup is already component speakers but they're too cheap.

I Technically have a hybrid setup because my bottom. Speaker is really a 5 way speaker. A true component setup will have a stand alone woofer on the bottom.

The crossover is the box you see on the left side of the door which does its job by making sure the correct frequency of sound goes to the correct speaker

Anyhow component speakers (tweeter separate from the woofer) are best because the staging of the music is better. In other words the sounds Goin good your ears is more accurate. High frequency music (tweeter) is aimed directly at your face while the low frequency music (woofer) is placed more in the background (or in this case the bottom). This includes the subwoofer which is why the subwoofer is generally placed in the back of the vehicle

Basically this crap. HID bulbs in a reflector housing not designed for them. Don't do it as it scatters the light all over the place and blinds oncoming drivers.

(Note: stock photo pulled from google, if it's your truck...sorry don't be a dumbass next time)

With properly installed component speakers each speaker plays an exact frequency range. The less frequencies a speaker has to play the clearer it plays the frequencies it does play.

I’m pretty green here. Is there a right way to do it with second gens?
