Poured some water out of my taillight. Then decided to just install the replacement instead of putting fresh tape over the hole.

I've been running packing tape on the hole for 3 years now, just peeling the tires tape and replacing it with fresh tape every few months.

Installed a fuel pump kill switch that is not located in the cab. Prior to this I was pulling the fuel pump relay, but that was somewhat of a pain and not very stealthy. Now I can flip the switch without gaining attention.

    Pictures for attention.

Truck was running a bit rough and shifting hard. Disconnected the battery, pulled the MAF and cleaned it. Reinstalled and the truck runs like new.

    The throttle body is next.

Installed the Amazon knock off 3rd gen pro skid. Fits good especially for $200. 1/4” aluminum is more then enough protection for my off-roading.

Actually pretty well, pretty much everything lined up perfectly. I had seen a few other posts in this thread that guys rolled the dice on them and they fit pretty well. So I followed them. The only place that didnt were the seat belt buckles on the front seats but the hole for it was in front of a cut away for the pivot point of the seat and the buckle sat perfectly in that cut away so it all worked out.

Saturday I changed my oil and emptied my catch can (which was about half full) also cleaned my K&N air filter which I wish I took a pictured of because there was actually mud on it. (I guess I wheel harder then I think) and also installed Desert Does It seat jackers and multi mount panel, Then took it out camping in the cold.

Sorry about the lack of pictures. I am terrible about documenting what I do with my truck.

Pulled the DS door sill proctectors

Unsnapped the white plastic retainers that hold the carpet, then raised and stuck a small block of wood under the carpet for better accesss.

Peeled back the wire sheathing (pictured in previous post) on the large bundle of wires that goes under the DS seat and through a rubber grommet.
Located the black/red wire that supplies power to the fuel pump NOTE: the black/red is for my truck 2007 V6 other years may vary.

Before I contiue, I had heard that interrupting the ground wire to the fuel pump would also disable the fuel pump. I located and disconnected the grounding point on the frame (indicated in the wiring diagram picture in my previous post) but the truck fired up three different times. Since this did not work, I went ahead with using the power wire.

Once I located the black/red wire I used a test light to check for power. Key off - no power. Key on - no power. The black/red wire only had power when I started the engine. For me this confirmed it was the power wire for the fuel pump.

Cut the black/red wire and tried to start the truck. No start which meant success.

I used butt splices to attach wires to each end of the freshly cut black/red wire(s)
I ran these wires through the rubber grommet. Once through the grommet the wires were loomed to the location of the switch.
I used a two pole water proof switch. Wiring the switch is a no brainer, doesn't matter which wire goes on the top or bottom pole. SEE picture of my rinky-dink hand drawn diagram.
    Fuelpump RinkyDink.jpg

Put back in place the sheathing that I had peeled back, added some black tape for reassurance then pulled the wooden block that was holding up the carpet. Reconnected the white plastic clips on the carpet then replaced the door sill covers.

Tried to keep it short and sweet, hope it helps.

Why do want/need to turn off your fuel pump. Theft deterrent?

Nice Set-up. Just curious, do you spray your frame to prevent rust. Things look not bad for living in Vail CO.

I’m honestly mind blown with how amazing it is to drive now. I used to build cars with some decent power and clutches and my truck is more fun to drive even..

It took me a solid day with some breaks and getting side tracked with other projects on truck lol

Exactamundo! Just a little more peace of mind when I'm out in the middle of BFE and riding my woods bike while my truck is parked back at the trail head. :)

    All stock, baby!
Looks good. From your installation experience, can you tell what it is about the fitment that would prevent the sellers of these 3rd gen skids from advertising them for 2nd gens as well? If it fits so easily I'm just shocked they haven't figured this out by now. One of the Amazon pages I looked at says "TRD PRO and Off-Road models ONLY", another "Will fit sport and SR5 models, just need to remove air dam/deflector to fit plate" which I assume refers to the factory splash shield. But still this latter one is still saying 3rd gen only.
