Fixed my thermometer/compass yesterday! I saw a YT vid of a guy replacing the surface mount resistors with through-hole for the pair shown below, so I figured I’d look there first. Broken solder joint on one of them! Luckily we have all we need at my office, including a microscope. I’ve never done surface mount electronics before, but it was pretty easy with the microscope. Just hit the solder joints with some heat and a tiny bit more solder and the unit came right back to life. I hit both sides for each of them to be sure.

Finalized my personal OCS bypass device for my 2012 regular cab and tested it. I went through trial and error trying different ways before I was successful.

I can get my scheel-manns installed soon without annoying error OCS related codes flashing but I am still using the OEM bench for now. It tucks neatly under the seat when not in use.

I just unplug the bladder from the passenger seat harness and plug this into the same harness and I can manually turn the airbag system off or on.

It really does open up the possibility to aftermarket seats to do this.

you’d need a microcontroller setup to bypass the weight style sensors on the bucket seats

Yeah!! Ive been reading all I can about it, but a lot of it is definitely still over my head. I’ve seen some folks permanently turn it on with hose clamps to keep pressure…but my dog rides shotgun too often for that.

A before and after on my 12 relay setup. Took some advice from another member and rebuilt everything into a water tight box. Took several weeks to get it all done, but I love the outcome. I need to make some brackets and then it’s going in the truck.

My buddy will be making these, not sure on costs yet, but lights probably won't be included. Trying to have him make one for my canopy as well.

do yall think anyone’s ever gonna figure out how to make a flush mount one
Or if there’s even enough room for that

a protruding design sounds sketch due to likely interfering with future install of any kind of top on the bed

but I guess that wouldn’t really matter. If one makes the switch to a top then that would have the third brake

don’t know what’s ideal in one on an open bed. Ie tri-light
    -1 yellow chase
-1 downward pointing white bed light
    -1 red brake

there is a 3d printed one that does exactly that now. Might be on Etsy.

not sure how they’d be independently controlled
Vs stock wiring being only brake kicking on

    IMG_2385.jpg

even a Softopper that can fold down I think is still not much room clearance to the cab third brake area

I am wondering if you can explain why you need a microcontroller set up for the bucket seat set up. I have read and understand that while the method of collecting the voltage is different for the four oem bucket ocs sensors in comparison for the single bladder pad OCS sensor.

However there does not seem to be any difference when it comes to converting the voltage to pounds and the OCS ECU using that to turn the airbag on or off. I just used two different resistors for a unoccupied seat value and occupied seat value.

Again just trying to understand why a microcontroller is needed for an on/off switch box as no one has really ever explained it other than the OCS bypass module that was offered for sale years back used it? Was hoping for a more detailed and technical explanation why.

Finally installed the bamf behind the grill mounting plate. Also threw on an old windfairing and Plano boxes on top to test fit a superstrut rack I will make.

Not enough room for a flush mount with the s2s unfortunately.

Plus this is more of a chase light set up, instead of a brake light plus bed light.

He made one for his raptor that has three s2s in it, with one being a bedlight though
